Hey all, tried searching for about 30 minutes, couldn't find what i was looking for....so i'm looking for a quick answer to a question i have no idea about. If i were to install a new aftermarket bolt assembly such as a TPG/Tubbs into a otherwise bone stock R700 action, what kind of gunsmithing needs to be done? I can assume they aren't just drop-in parts. What would i be looking to have done? Lugs lapped? Timing? Bolt face cut down?

I just have no idea when it comes to this, i've never really looked into it but i was pretty impressed with they're stuff and was considering for a future build. Any info helps, thanks!

As long as you go with the standard diameter you shouldn't have to make any changes to the action.

There will be some machining required to the barrel to set headspace and maintain proper clearances between the bolt nose and barrel.

Lapping may or may not be necessary. Wouldn't be a bad idea to give it a quickie just to make sure.

None of this should be a big deal to a decent rifle wrench.

Alrighty, good to know. Shouldn't cost to much to have a smith do it up correct? I just don't have the machinery/experience to do it. And heck, if my freakin' bolts got lost in the mail on their way to dpkdavis...i may have to look for replacements anyway...(sigh)
