About to start a 260. rem project which will be on a Remington 700 S/A, McMillan A5 stock, and will be focusing on 139, 140, and 142 gr bullets. What Bottom Metal do you suggest?

A lot of guys like the PTG Stealth simply for the fact the bottom protrusion is handy when shooting up against a wall or barricade. If you don't want/need a DBM, the Badger M4 is good.

I agree with this guy a lot. The M4 is my favorite BDL-type, but the PTG is my #1 for DBM. The PTG DBM also uses the Badger M5 bottom metal inlet.

After you decide if you want DBM or BDL, the choices are pretty much Ginger or Mary Ann. Just depends on your taste.

I prefer Surgeon or Black Ops DBM to allow you to push up against barricades without putting pressure on the mag.

This gets my vote. ^^^^^^ I am doing another build with Mark at Spartan Rifles but will be using a Stiller DBM on this and will be curious how well i like it. Don't see many on builds or hear much talk about them.

I have used Seekins, Badger, Surgeon, and many others. One that I tried recently that impressed me was CDI Precision, for the cost it is a great solution. The Surgeon is the sexiest looking, Badger is no nonsense and just plain works, Seekins is slick with its AR style push button release and less surfaces to snag.

We are lucky to have so many good products to choose from, which poses more problems....

I have had great luck with the Surgeon bottom metal. Mag release is easy to reach without excess protrusion.

I have used the Black Ops DMB and it's very nice and streamlined. The mag release is tucked in the trigger guard and it uses a plunger system that keeps the mag from rattling. It's great on my hunting rifle but did require a little machining on the action. No big deal for a good gunsmith.

Can you even find Black Ops Precision DBM anymore since they went out of business?

I bought mine through Defiance. Check their web site or give them a call and see if they still have some. The action and stock will need a tad work for the piston housing that is located on the back of the DBM. Defiance made the cut on the action when i ordered both from them.
