I am looking for a new scope that is both lite weight and also has repeatable and accurate turret adjustment in 1/4 MOA. I like to dial up for all my long shots.
Something about 1/2 to 2/3 the weight of my Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 would be ideal.
This is for a back pack outfit so weight and balance is important.
looking at minimum power of no more than 2.5 or 3.5 power. Maximum power - highest available.
Any ideas

That's what I like about the Vortex PST scopes coming out.

If these don't get it done I'll have to look at a used USO/Premier/Nightforce.
Nice scopes and more expensive but the loss of weight savings will be what I will miss more than the extra money spent.

Your choice of brand depends on the exact specs you want. I have a couple NF scopes: 2.5-10x24 & 2.5-10x32, and I'm sure you'd be happy with them. But even those scopes are heavy for the OBJ size. If weight is a prime concern, you should definitely be looking at Leupold scopes. I bought two Leupolds when I was looking to go really light for hunting rifles. Just bought their VX-3 2.5-8x36: 11.3 ounces with knurled turret adjustments. Not tactical, but very functional with a great warranty. Nikon makes a nice 2-8x32 that comes in at 13.4 ounces and has exposed target turret options.
