When looking at reloading manual - are all bullets of same weight equivalent from powder load perspective?

Trying to better understand how to interpret reloading manual data... Often times I see multiple bullets of same weight (for same caliber) with different load data. In today's world I just bought 55 grain 223 bullets off gunbroker - would it be safe to use load data from other 55 grain bullet? I am definitely not trying to push the load and will measure velocities to see how load performs...

Thank you

There are other factors that effect the load other than the weight of a bullet. For example, bullets of the same weight and caliber can have very different bearing surface lengths as well as the BTO distance. Though some differences in load data may not be a lot, it's good to try and use the load data provided for the particular bullet as a guide. Then when working up a load, pay close attention to what YOUR load is telling you, like with regards to pressure signs.

I ordered 55gr 223 bullets from Evergladesammo (partly due to shortage of everything) - did not see them in load data...

I would pick a similar fmj (Im assuming you purchased fmj's) like hornady and go with it. Also Johnny's reloading bench on youtube did some testing of the 55 fmj everglades with a few powders. If your lucky it may be one you have.

Also keep in mind that different 55 Gr FMJ have their cannalures in different locations
