So I'm wanting to replace my Marlin 336's stock with another wood stock, of a more exotic wood than what came from the factory. I don't have the tools or experience to completely refinish one from a blank chunk of wood, but have refinished several Garand stocks over the past few years. Anybody know a good place online, or near the Virginia/DC area where I can find one? I need it to be able to mount directly to the factory 336, I just want to sand/stain/finish it myself. I'd like to find some really exotic wood for it.

all you need to finish a stock is a little elbow grease. Sand it and either do a rubbed oil or a spay clear coat.

Boyds makes a good stock, but I'm not sure how exotic you're looking for.

joel (russoriflestocks)has blanks in bobinga (sp) very high grade walnuts, and some other exotics, just give him a call and see what he has on hand.
