Gunsmithing Where to find a tap?

I purchased a JP muzzle break (used). It threads down on my barrel 3/4 of the way and starts to bind. I did not force it. Cleaned the threads several times. Best I can tell there is now grossly obvious defects in the threads. I was thinking about buying a tap and passing it thru.
I tried Home Depot and auto zone.. No luck. Any ideas on where I can purchase 5/8 x 24 tap thanks

I don't if this is what's happening but since it's used look for carbon build up in the treads where the oldr barrel ended. Don't be afraid to get in there and scrap the crap out with a small screwdriver.

Enco and MSC carry all types of taps. Check out eBay too...sometimes you can get a really good deal on special tap sizes.

I bought one from MSC a couple months ago, I believe it was Hertel not the best but affordable at about 69 bucks.

Also, I had one of barrels threaded and during install of the suppressor it would not seat all the way. It turned out the threads didn't go down far enough. I used a die from Brownells to take it down a rotation.
