Where would you move to from a future Socialist America?

IF I had to choose, I'd say Poland or the Czech Rep.. I have one problem with the "move", my wife and I are on the .gov tit. I have 2ea. Fed. retirements and 1ea. State retirements. Wife has 1ea. of both also. Sooo...... we are living the "Socialist" life as we see it, now. Could live on Invest./savings, for 1.5-2 years, but after that, well, who knows. Like the OP, I used to live the outdoor life (dirt biked, off-roaded, shoot, hunt/fish, blah, blah), I'm 60, as yourself, no bills, except for a mortgage and everyday living/survival expenses. So sitting pretty well for two people with H.S. diplomas and some collage. We have both, worked hard and earned everything we ever got, and have no rich family, with large bank accounts, to worry about any inheritance gains.
I always thought living in Australia, would be a great place to go, but now, don't know. I guess you could put the World Map up on a wall and throw a dart and then take your chances??
I think, that the next 9 years is going to be the turning point for the U.S. of A. and if Trump d/n get another term, it will be the next 5 years ( the remainder of Trump's term + 4 years of a dim admin.).
I think a lot of people, of our generation, have had the same thought cross their mind.
Good luck figuring it all out, when you do, let me know. Mac?

3 retirements are part of the reason the us taxpayer is taxed to death with no end in sight

The servant has become the master

Historically, most democratic republics throughout time have only lasted 200-250 years at best. They always start off with strong patriotic intentions, but as time goes on, the populace keeps voting themselves a bigger and bigger portion of the government coffers. In the end, the whole house of cards implodes on itself. A dictatorship almost always arises from the ashes as the desperate populace will support any political "savior" that promises to cure their woes. We are not far from that endgame now considering the sharp political divide across this country.

The current USA is made up of too many different cultures that will never get along peacefully. This country needs to be split up into at least 4-6 different sovereign territories so that like minded people can all group into their own geographical area and govern themselves as they see fit. Those groups of people that have thrived at the expense of others will only have each other of like mindedness to depend on. Sink or swim.

Yeh, I get it, but that was the way the system was set up in my day. The problem we have now is we have more people taking from the system, then we have putting into it. I've paid taxes for 46 years of my working life and have always worked a tax bearing job. "Uncle Sam" has had his hand in my wages long before I got my check, same with the wife. I guess I should have not used the term ".Gov Tit", in my case, because I've paid my way to be on it and if the .gov didn't invest my money wisely, that he took from me, well I guess that's on Uncle Sam. I've earned my retirement(s), by serving my country for 21 yrs., in great places and in shithole places, long hours, being away from family/home, etc.. Worked the State Prison system for 18 yrs. and have dealt with the shit of society. So I hope you don't take me wrong, but I've never got anything for "free". OH and by the way, the wife and I are STILL paying taxes for our "luxury" retirements, along with paying for Obama Care. Mac

When ya'll get ready to leave I'd like a shot at buying your guns......
After near 25 years traveling around the world, 30+ countries looking for that better place, I'm back where I started -Texas, and it's where I'm staying.

For all of you going to run to Europe, guess what. Please do, the goat people are already there and waiting. They don’t just rape the women, they like dudes just as much. It’s here or nothing.

I hope everyone is doing their part
Bringing non shooters to the range and making Jtnk enjoyable.
Giving ar15s away
Etc
Taken 2 virgin shooters out in the last couple months. Neither had ever shot a gun. Both wanted advice on purchasing a gun of their own. They had no idea how fun it was, and the importance of it, not to mention they are responsible for their own safety, not the police or government.

I totally understand where you are coming from
A lot of older folks think the same way, and are very much interested in what they "deserve" for the "money they paid in".

HOWEVER!

What everybody actually did was pay a tax to be a part of a pyramid scheme that as per Supreme Court ruling, the government has NO obligation to honor if they choose not to.

The money was never "Invested" it was simply taken by the politicians (that the generation responsible allowed to be put in power) added to the general budget and spent & then at best an IOU was given that is.... wait for it.....
TO BE PAID BY THE TAXES OF A FUTURE GENERATION!

When it comes down to it, there is NO retirement / pension / Social Security money actually around for Government based programs.

All there is is a IOU they don't totally have to honor that says when you need the money, we will do our best to Tax somebody else to pay it back or borrow from somebody (once again based on promising to tax someone to pay it back). to pay your bills.

So enjoy it as long as you can for as much as you can.
BUT don't expect any sympathy from anyone else when it finally hits the wall and the choices are tax the workers more than they make to pay the retirement, or simply tell the retirement folks tough.
I can guarantee you the coming generation has NO desire to pay even higher taxes to support the previous generations.

So the government will borrow till they can't borrow any more to make up the difference.
Eventually there will come a wall and it will be just like the Greek Government.

Now some unions tried to get smart and tried to get some states to put it in their state constitution that the pension funds are guaranteed and must be paid.... Well good luck with that when the hard crash comes. They may go try to seize people's houses to pay retirement packages.... and then all hell breaks loose....

So enjoy it for as long as it lasts, you may live out your days before it all hits the wall.

Probably Germany for me. If I'm gonna live under rules, I may as well enjoy great food and bier! Besides the culinary benefits, I enjoy the people, and my heritage. So, Germany.

You must really like strict conformity and being told what to do.

You must really like strict conformity and being told what to do.
And the addition of losing that heritage quickly because Germany is overrun by "refugees" now whose favorite pastimes include shopping for Friday night prayer rugs, harassing people drinking beer at the local Schuetzenfest, sexually assaulting women and little boys in Cologne for New Years, and just generally recreating the conditions of their favorite litter box from whence they "fled". I have German heritage as well but I don't think the Fatherland would have my vote. It used to be a nice place to visit but this is my home and I won't let the left turn it into a more authoritarian copy of what Germany has become. My oath as a U.S. service member has no expiration.

Yup, as wild as Steve Bullock, and Jon Tester... try again, California's trekkers were faster.

Hey, never said it was perfect. Bullock and Tester are two douche bags of the highest order, I will give you that. But this year we are electing a Republican Governor. The Dems running are a joke. Then we will get the pro-gun legislation signed Bullock vetoed. Stuff to make Mikey Bloomberg cry. Like legislation forbidding state employees from enforcing ANY federal gun control legislation and more (passed and vetoed by Buttock).

Praying for you brother! Say one for us too here in Colorado as we are about to get violated again this year before the November election, praying for a miracle and enough conservatives to go vote to make a dent and counter the voter fraud and CA migrant take over of previous years.

Absolutely correct. At one time, there was a rumor that .gov raided the S.S. system to build an aircraft carrier, how true, don't know. .Gov has squandered/wasted so much taxpayer money, out of our retirement systems, it's just crazy. They hand that shit out, like it's halloween. Ponzi scheme, absolutely.
When I made the comment about the .gov tit, I was referring to the fact that if I wanted to move to a different country (which I sure as hell don't), .gov could flip the switch and me/wife, would be up that proverbial creek. We have invested in stocks, but I feel nothing is safe and at our ages, you feel like that noose is getting tighter. Mac:unsure:

Scary thing to be past one's working age and having hauled yer ass out of bed *every* day at 5 am and worked 3 jobs and saved as best one could and *still* be dependent on SS to make ends meet. I love this country and the people in it *but* if they seriously cut SS I'll have to leave to stay being able to eat and afford health care.

I can live easily on my investments (without SS) in many countries but to stay here where we pay 3X as much for Health Care as any other industrialized country in my older years is beyond my means. I simply can't afford to stay here if I don;t get my meager SS check.

Still working now at 64 and hope to continue to 70. Love America....have lots of friends in the UK and EU to compare prices/costs with and I think Americans have an over inflated view of how "good" we have it.

Yesterday, I was at an oath ceremony for new US citizens.
91 immigrants, from over 40 countries.
Evidently, there is no better place on Earth, where one enjoys liberty as an individual. There is no greater guarantee offered among men, than the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States. May we by the help of Almighty God, ever secure this sacred land. If we lose completely our Republic, there is NO other sanctuary for life, liberty, and property.

There's no where to go. I've lived in a several other countries, and in terms of politics and individual rights they're all worse. If Socialists fully take over the Federal Government I guess it's civil war in some form. Every good American should do what they can to restore the Constitutional Republic and destroy its enemies, especially socialism with extreme prejudice.

I'm an American, I don't run I fight to the death. There's plenty of people here who feel the same way. Just the Veterans alone will be a reckoning force.

Ummm... no where.

Born here, will die here.

Pretty sure freedom was never won by running away

Next question...
Amen brother. If it came down to it, I think moving together to a state full of like minded folks to hold up with makes more sense. Somewhere that has a bunch of military bases with like minded commanders. Most Veterans are the independent type, gun owners, and appreciate the constitution we swore to defend, even from domestic enemies.

If it came down to Antifa, resist vs us, I'll take us. That being said, a nice 60 foot sailboat stocked with provisions and ammo, and a few blondes, would also be nice.....

Not going anywhere, stand and be counted. Through the good and bad this country is a beacon of hope. When people needed her she was there for all. When she needs us be here for her or go now.

Spent some time last night reading about a group of Confederate veterans who migrated to Brazil after the War Between the States had ended and founded their own autonomous region within the larger country for many years, welcomed by the locals and helping them benefit as well by introducing to them advanced western agricultural and ranching techniques... "Venezuela" got me thinking, once the Wuhan Flu decimates a good portion of the third world tinpot shitholes that already had their medical infrastructures FUBAR'd by socialist policies, how hard it would be to get together a band of heavily armed Patriots and take over a dying communist banana republic and make it a Constitution state, setting up a government, economic infrastructure, and international relations? The only gun control law on the books being that if anyone tries to disarm us, they will get shot in the fucking face, and any person who commits a violent offense or a crime against humanity within our borders get immediately hanged from the nearest lamppost. We need a name for this state. Centralia sounds sweet...
Funny. When I was a kid, my buddies and I used to joke around about If the leftists gained control and the SHTF, we decided we would buy a small Island in the Carribean, declare war on the US, and when they bombed us, we would ask for billions in reparations.

I'm sure glad that none of you anti-socialists will be expecting to claim your Social Security benefits. Or Medicare. Leaves more for me.

Would you all rather live in a country where Jeff Bezos makes more money in a day than most Americans do in their lifetime. Or where three men, Bezos, Buffet and Gates control more wealth than half the population of America, a hundred and seventy million people net. You want oligarchy?! The have and halve nots?

If most old people not having to eat cat food or deciding whether to pay rent or get their medications, or most citizens being able to get preventive health care and not fearing going to a doctor until they end up in an ER s'socialism'(?), bring it on.

You get Social Security, or a pension of any form, but you're against "socialism", then you are morally obligated to sign your check over to the US Treasury every month.

Its funny how narrowly some people define 'socialism' to, anyone but them. Or anyone that doesn't look, act, dress, speak, or eat like them.

Not going anywhere. If the system collars us as outlaws for refusing to capitulate on inherent liberty then we will operate from the shadows.

You do make a couple of good points, but in the end, with socialism, you still end up with very wealthy people, it’s just different ones then you started with.

I, for one, have been watching the us government take ss witholding out of my paycheck for 50 years. You apparently are unaware that ss is not an "entitlement". It is money that every taxpayer has been forced to pay into the system. I expect, no, I demand that when I start drawing ss, MY money is there and is made available to me immediately upon my demand.

I'm not "morally obligated" to do fuck all. It's my money. Oh, and by the way, I AM against "socialism". I am not in the least bit interested in having any portion of my witholding being paid out to anyone that did not work as hard for it as I did. To do so is called "theft". The us governement happens to be pretty good at it.

When Hilary was running for office, I almost [CENSORED/DELETED] bricks. Normally, I would not have even considered voting for Trump, but I was going to be damned if I was going to let that lying, conniving, and thieving embezzler start ruining my life…so, I registered to vote, and the voting majority cast their ballots as I had. Now, since that decided victory, I am utterly disgusted at the witch-hunters that have been trying to get Trump impeached and brought up on criminal charges…all from a bunch of disgruntled PINHEADS that still can't stomach Hilary losing that election, for no real reason. These morons have made our country an international laughingstock.

I was an Army brat. As such, I was trained and educated to represent my country while attending school abroad. I started learning German, and I had one Hell of a good time traveling and seeing the sights. I was not a tourist. Germany was my home for eight years. When I came of age, I joined the United States Navy (this was before Iran's shah was deposed and exiled, before terrorism gained its ugly foothold in America, both foreign and domestic).

In truth, I have thought about relocating in the event that things get ugly—uglier—here. I've thought about it, but relocating our of country is untenable due to healthcare considerations. I'm also retired, and am almost sixty, but it makes me sick to think how bad things could get. After 9/11, local news reporters were doing man-on-the-streets interviews, asking San Antonians, "Would you mind sacrificing a few personal liberties in order to combat terrorism?" I was aghast, appalled. Never in the history of the world, has a government EVER returned civil liberties once they've been surrendered. Revolt has been the only recourse to those seeking reinstatement of INALIENABLE rights. Those rights were paid for in BLOOD, and people would consider for even a MOMENT, to give them up?

There seems to be no limit to human stupidity.

Finland or Iceland, or even Belize looks pretty good. Finland, because it has the most actually free press (unlike the US). Iceland runs a close second. Belize because my dollars would go a long way, but CRAP medical care, right?

Maybe I could just…build a cabin in the woods, stake a remote homestead away from all the crazy.

Dude.
I’m with @Threadcutter308 on SSI. I’ve been fortunate but due to that have paid an amount I consider usury into it for a large number of years. Now I’m being told that because I saved and invested that if I decide to access my forced contributions into SSI then I will be taxed because I’ll be making “too much”. Really? My investments don’t limit what I can get. Fuck socialism and social programs. They make beggars out of proud people.
Second. Class envy much? Who gives a shit what Buffet, Bezos and anyone else make or have? You could have it too with an idea and some balls. They made the investments, took huge risks. Have you?
What someone else has or makes has zero correlation to anything I’m doing or what I make. It has nothing to do with how I see myself. To be envious is fine but taking it to the extent you did is ridiculous. If you feel you’re being controlled then change it. Do what’s necessary to get out from whatever you feel is holding you back. Whether that’s location, education or any other variable it’s in your power to change it. If you can’t or won’t, then quit whining. You make your own bed.
I still believe in this country. I believe a guy with some stones, willing to do what’s necessary to excel in whatever they choose can do well. That cannot happen in a socialistic model.

If a group of people all voluntarily want to form a commune and leave outsiders alone I have no problem with that at all, but that's not what we're talking about.

Socialism isn't people power, it's government power. Which also why you get people like Bezos, Buffet, and Gates in socialist systems. Socialism as some sort of working class utopia has always been a lie. So is this crap about socialism helping old people and other genuinely vulnerable people in society. The socialists of today are more likely to euthanize old people (as well as babies) as some sort of offering to their Climate Change cult or as a part of their social engineering agenda than do anything genuine to help them. Why is it necessary to have government pointing a gun at people's head for people to help other people? It isn't! Before government handouts, there was charity.

And NO you are not morally obligated to sign your social security or pension check over to the US Treasury if your against Socialism. Socialism or Government didn't produce that money, it stole it from other people, often including the people getting the checks. Why should someone who's been paying into Social Security for decades be excluded from benefiting from it because they disagree with the system itself? It's not like they were given an option not to participate.

Fuck Socialism and Socialists. Together in all their forms they've murdered millions of people and ruined the lives of millions more. Socialism is an evil we can do with out.

I don't know anyone in my sphere who would consider leaving and quite frankly your post echoes of the Hollywood liberals who threatened to leave if Trump won. There isn't a remotely close 2nd on the planet to what America offers anyway. Even if there were I wouldn't give up to these Democrat nitwits that's 100 percent pure pussy.
That’s right! USA has guns aplenty, wages so low that waitresses can afford their rent and a health care system where the rich get all the care they need and workers like us die waiting in a long line for a heart operation that would be free in many countries. And we keep voting for the people that keep us poor. Anyone read “Deerhunting with Jesus” lately? It’s a revelation!

First and for most run to the fight for what’s right not away. It wouldn’t take much to finish dividing the country that’s for sure. I hate what our government has become.

Secondly both parties are with their own agenda so tell me why is it that we need a dem or republican in office? Why not an independent that wants to better America with no agenda no personal gain as the corporations buy off the politicians. Why do we allow career politicians? Capitol Hill forgets they work for us and we pay their salaries and retirement which is one hell of a retirement mind you. Who wouldn’t want health care for life and full salary of 6 figures which shouldn’t be. Trump has rocked the boat and will get my vote again that’s for sure!
