Where's the copper?

Getting a new GAP Crusador 260 Rem up and running. Followed the GAP break-in instructions. Saw a little copper color (blue) cleaning new barrel and much less after the first (for me) shot. 3rd shot, two 5 rnd groups - no copper.

74 rnds down the tube now, cleaning with Bore Tech about every 25 rnds, and still not seeing any copper.

Is this typical with Bartlein barrels?

Yes. You don't need to clean that often IMHO.

Will drop back to a more normal frequency having performed GAP's break-in with due (over) diligence.

The big surprise is the total lack of copper fouling, unlike Remmy barrels.

Let the copper stay (don't clean your barrel) until you notice accuracy degrade. And even then, just give it a little cleaning, not a scrub down to NIB cleanliness.

If you put the money into a good barrel, it'll shoot just fine if you do your part. The fouling, in my experience anyways, provides consistency. As soon as I clean out the copper, it takes about 15-25 rounds to get it back on previous zero.

You DO NOT want to leave copper in the barrel! Being a Bartlein I'm sure there is none.

No copper in there. Even tested the Bore Tech copper remover to be sure it works and the blue shows up instantly on a bullet. Just never shot anything this slick before.

Do not clean so often. Shoot, when accuracy declines (200-400+ with a Bartlein) then clean.

Cleaning every 25 rounds is going to put you in a new barrel quickly.

Thanks for the info. The 25 shot cleanings were per break-in instructions. Good to hear that 200-400 is more reasonable.
