Range Report wheres the data gone????

Re: wheres the data gone????

oh yea, i tried some test weight loads in various cases for the .308 with varget, and i dunno how the hell that dood from the post before was squeezing in anywhere near 44 grain!

Re: wheres the data gone????

well dude....i've ran 45gr of varget in win brass with the 178 amax no problem with room to spare. no pressure signs what so ever. not sure what you have going on. what bullet are you trying?

Re: wheres the data gone????

I run 45gr Varget in FGMM cases topped with a 175SMK. Very precise, very slight primer flattening, 2715fps at 70F and 900MSL.

If you cant fit 44 gr of Varget in the case then stop...something is very wrong.

Re: wheres the data gone????

Definitely would be helpful to know what bullet grain you're referring to. I use 44.8 with 178 amax in hornady brass. My load testing was over 45 without pressure.

Re: wheres the data gone????

shit guys, the all famous but never reported 208 grain amax. I have the 178's but aint loaded them yet.
I started out at 3 at 38.5 and couldnt get any more than 42 on max oal.
my scoop was to start with the lows and check the group, chrono them, and clean and foul with 2 nato's before i went to the next load.

my budy just said that the 208 grains were tending to make a mess of rifles because of more underloading than anything else, he's in the industry.

i'm running varget because it was the most recomended.

any input before i fire away?

with nato's, i'm 9 inches apart at 500 yards with a 15mph 11 oclock crosswind and only seeing the top 9 inches of the 3 foot square target I am 5 inches right and 9 inches above and below bull within a 1 mil square@500.

I only sent 3 rounds downrange and gave it about 5 foot of holdover.

do i need to bother!

Re: wheres the data gone????

wallaby,

you gotta speak english man.....whats a nato? i assume nato brass like lake city???

shoot at a clean target that you can see all of and report back. your impacts description makes you sound like your on crack.

Re: wheres the data gone????

so man, i finally got to loading the 208 vmax in winchester brass ysing varget. started out with 38.5 in 3 rounds and they ran around 1850 through the chrono and dropped about 14 inches low at 200.
at 42 grain the loads gave a hint of compression and i was actualy at about 3/32 over MOL. but they ran 2480 fps and grouped at a half dollar center bull at 200 yards. so the guy that ran 44 grain varget with the 208 amax was perhaps punching a compressed load and had to have been at least 1/8 over MOL, but i believe he would have been true in saying he was sub moa and running at around 2600fps.
