I'm assuming that these CW5s are going to be from various MOS's? That would make one for tanks, one for motor-t, one for supply etc...

In my 14 years at LeJeune, I can't recall that many CWO5s being on the entire base...but rank structure is going to be different across the branches.

Someone probably suggested a group thing as a way to be stupid/build camaraderie across the support functions...and one of the guys came up with an equally stupid (on purpose) t-shirt to inject a little humor.

Some if those guys might be wieners, but none of them are idiots for sure.

Uniformly non-uniform. Are CW5s known for a sense of humor?

Maybe not a sense of humor. If anything, not giving AF about being at the proper position of either parade rest or at ease though for sure... Especially if they are in some sort of support MOS that is highly technical. Dudes haven't been around a parade field for at least 15-20 years.

I mean, what do you tell an E9 or CW4/5 of a technical MOS? Trick question: The answer is nothing.

The one I met in Kunsan, Korea had no sense of humor at all.

We, (USAF) just ignored them most of the time.
One day, when getting out of our truck at the chow hall, we began passing by one and he stopped.

He asked us, "Gentlemen, do we not salute Warrant Officers anymore?"

My response: "Sorry Sir, I thought you were a Cadet." I popped a salute to him.
You should have seen the fury in his eyes.

The proper response, should have been to address him as Mister, but who was I to care. We didn't have WOs.

The next day a mass email went out from the top, that even though we were an Air Force base, that we had Army WOs stationed there and we were to show proper respect to them.

We knew exactly what prompted the email.
What a fucking douche. 🤣🤣

Ahhhh, but have you ever really lived until you were the subject of a mass email by leadership?

I was part of the "fashion show" that turned into a drinking in the field and hazing event in '98. After that, the annual hazing briefs given 'Corps-wide had 'fashion show' listed as an example of hazing. It was my crowning achievement as an E-3, and its legacy lasted in writing up until my retirement at least.

Thank you for your service.

I’ve seen E9s get told a thang I or two. I’ve not seen a W5 get told shit about shit. Them things is untouchable it seems

You aren't wrong. I've been a fly on the wall when a Lieutenant General got pissed off at a Brigadier General for failing to mention something that the LtGen got asked by the Commandant about. It was very much along the same lines as having an O5 battalion commander get pissed off at the O3 company commanders.

By and large though...you have to really F-up to have someone climb up your shit once you get to the E9 and CWO4+ levels. It takes some serious lackadaisical attitude or complacency.

Pretty solid facts for sure

I watched a two star general get told it fuck off and leave one morning(he got back on his helicopter and left). Guy that did it was calm as ever and only partially dressed at the time. Exciting times there following an interesting night
