Which 308 brass is best

Re: Which 308 brass is best

lapua is the best with norma close behind, for the money, winchester is hard to beat in terms of case capacity, for increased speed compared to federal and LC which are pretty thick.
hope this helps.

Re: Which 308 brass is best

Lapua if cost is no object. If it is for an autoloader I'm not sure it would make a lot of difference in most cases and Lapua would probably be a waste of money. IMHO

Re: Which 308 brass is best

Ive used just about every brand and I agree that lapua and nosler are the best of the bunch.

If your looking for longevity, ive got some lake city and federal gold medal thats on 14-15 firings and they look great. My lapua and nosler hit about 11 and they start getting case head separations

Re: Which 308 brass is best

I've been running Winchester brass but I recently got 500 pieces of LC LR brass than I'm prepping. Will check max capacity tomorrow and report back.

Re: Which 308 brass is best

"...thumbs down on Rem brass. I've had primer pocket leaks on the second firing. Multiple times."

Not without overloads you haven't.

Re: Which 308 brass is best

I shoot alot of 308, and my findings are Winchester is the best bang for the buck all around.. Sure, Lapua is nice, but for me, Winchester does everything I need, and the cost is right (thats why I have 1,000 Win cases, and sold the only 100 lapua cases i owned).

Re: Which 308 brass is best

My experience is that Lapua is the best with Norma a close second.LC Match has been very consistent, also.Winchester is affordable, and it cleans up well.I have had issues with Remington and Federal having a shorter than expected life.Usually primer pockets getting loose.I use Lapua or winchester in everything that I can,but would not pay the price for Lapua if I was shooting a semi-auto.It just cost too much to loose it or tear the rims off.You will probably not see a huge difference in group size between the best and worst brass. The difference will be the amount of case prep needed and the life of the brass.
