I've got the itch to buy another rifle and this time I'm sure I want a 6.5mm.

I thought I had my mind made up on the TC Icon weathershield, and am still leaning in that direction. I just happened to be browsing the web and notice that Browning is now listing their A-bolt II long range hunting rifles in 6.5 creedmoor.

So now I'm trying to find info on the browning, so far not much for feedback.

Use for the rifle..... Mostly poking holes in targets. but will definitely have to pull double duty for hunting. both rifles have features that I like and dislike... I've never handled an Icon but have heard many encouraging reviews. I will have to handle one before I make any final decisions on ordering.

anyone here have either rifle? regardless of caliber? recommendations?

and no I don't want to start a custom build, and yes I know this would be much easier if tikka would just start importing any .260s or 6.5x55

Actually they have. U.S. dealers are selling the Tikka Sporter in .260 Rem and 6.5x55 Swedish follow link- http://www.berettausa.com/products/tikka-t3-sporter/?keywords=tikka+sporter Tikka's are shooters, the sporter stock wouldn't work very well for hunting though, but you can always easily change that.

don't want a savage, but thanks for the offer. thought about the tikka sport but don't want to pay that much and still have to change out the stock, i don't care for the stock at all.

has anyone here shot or handled a TC Icon? I've heard they are top notch shooters out the box.

You could sell the stock easily and make money back then buy/trade to someone who has a standard varmint stock.

didn't want to have to dick around with swapping stock. I could be wrong but I'm thinking the market for one of the sportster stocks is pretty small. might be a tough sale

You can get a Tikka T3 in 6.5x55 online. I know because that's how I got mine. As far as I'm concerned, I couldn't have a better hunting rifle. It is very light and accurate, not to mention relatively cheap. The only thing I don't care for with the Tikkas, even the stainless which I have, is that they are rust prone. I painted mine.

Re: which 6.5 creedmoor rifle?

I have a T/C Icon in .308. Much to my chagrin...Not a shooter...been back to the factory twice already...now back for the third time...Hopefully the last time. Other than the fact that it won't shoot I love it. Which at the moment means I'm pretty disappointed... Short bolt throw, removable Mag..5r barrel..good stuff..

I also own a Savage Predator hunter max in 6.5 Creedmoor which is the most accurate gun I own...and I own 3 other guns that are considerably more that double the price I paid for the Savage new. That is no slight on the expensive guns...just extremely high praise for the Savage...Now don't go jumping to the conclusion that I am A Savage FanBoy...I am most certainly not. In fact I never owned one until a few short months ago... I just saying you shouldn't rule them out.

best of luck with your search...I really like my Creedmoor, as I am sure you will, no matter what platform you choose to shoot it through.

Savage long range precision

those are the two that came to my mind. I wouldn't take a single other gun mentioned in this thread over those two

Re: which 6.5 creedmoor rifle?

damn, this is getting out of control. Now I'm way down the rabbit hole again lol.

I thought that since I had a bit of cash burning up my wallet I would treat myself to a new rifle. Something simple, cheap, and fun, always wanted a 6.5 creedmoor. At one time I had a stiller tac-30 to get this rifle started, then the economy to a dump and i sold it.

now with a few more options, browning, TC, Savage, and none of them having exactly what I want I'm starting to think custom again. DAMMIT why do I have to be such a meticulous gun snob lol I really don't want the hassle of building a gun and the cost......uuugghhh

Ps. anyone have an extra tikka action lying around.....?
