For something that is going to take the strain I would use Devcon or Marine-tex. I put a 3rd sling stud in on my rifle and used Devcon. I feel more confident knowing that its solid in there.

JB Weld (not JB Kwik) is stronger than Devcon Steel putty, it's going to work fine.

I put my trust in JB Weld. For porous stuff, Gorilla Glue.
I use a lot of adhesives for a lot of applications with my model building, and these have risen to the top like cream does in milk. I also like Scotch Super Strength Adhesive in the tube. These are all decent high strength adhesives.
