Hey all,
I got a Arsenal AK and want to put a red dot on it. Im going to use a Midwest Ind. siderail mount. I like the COMP C3 and the COMP M3 And ML3. It looks like the only difference between the c3 and the ML3 is the temperature rating and the price. And the main difference between the Comp M3 and the other two is the M3 is night vision compatible. I like the 2 moa dot. My question is, Which one?? I would like a set of NVG's but I dont know if I will ever be able to afford them. And Im not sure its worth the extra 200 dollars. And between the C3 And the ML3 is the temp rating but is that worth the extra money? The C3 is rated to -20. And the ML3 is rated for -60. Is it worth the extra $150 or so dollars? I dont think I will ever be in -60 and -20 would be rare. And as for the NVG compatibility, Should I spend the extra money now to get it or worry about it once i get a set of NVG's? (If that ever happens) What are your thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: Which Aimpoint??

i would go with the m3 everyone i know that runs that sight likes it plus that gives you some ambition to get hte NV i went with the m4 with similar concerns as you being is it worth the extra coin and i have been happy with the purchase and i still dont have the NV

Re: Which Aimpoint??

Get the c3 and if you ever get nvg spend the extra you saved on an IR laser. You don't want to weapons mount your pvs-14 anyhow when you can helmet mount and use a laser.

Re: Which Aimpoint??

Depending on weight vs durability.
Weight - T1/H1 (5yr battery life and only a few ounces, and still quite durable).
Durability - CompM4 (8yr on battery life..built better than a tank at the price of weight)

With the two above and the Patrol optic, I don't see much of need for the CompM2/M3 anymore.

And Take the c3 off??

Re: Which Aimpoint??

I'd throw a vote towards the h1/t1, due to the fact that he keeps your head lower on the rifle. (At least thats the way I prefer to shoot, rather not be looking up/off.)
.
The only positive i'd see with the m3/m4 would be that you can have lense covers that can stay affixed. Otherwise not quite "ideal" for the application you seek ...at least my .02c

Good point. Are the T1 micros as tuff as the comp series? How do you like the FOV of the micro campared to the comp series?

Re: Which Aimpoint??

The Patrol optic is it's own optic. Go to the Aimpoint website and you can get the specs (weights, FOV, dot sizes available, etc) for each model. YouTube is your friend too if you want move of a review of each or comparison. Unless you are going to war with it I thing the Patrol optic is the best value.
