I'm a bit confused what Atlas bipod configuration to use on the Tikka T3 Tac...

1. BT10 - Atlas Bipod - Standard two screw clamp on style
2. BT10-LW17 - Atlas Bipod - Lever Mount With ARMS 17S Mount
3. BT10-NC - Atlas Bipod - No Clamp, takes any 17S lever mount and mounts directly to our Accuracy International and Sako TRG Style Spigot mount to be released soon.

Any help would be great...

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

You would NOT need a BT10-NC so count that one out.

If you had a pic rail on the bottom of your stock you could use the BT10.

Not sure what a lever mount is, im sure someone else will chime in

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

If you have a stud mount, Atlas may not for be for you as Kasey doesn't offer a stud mount version as far as I am aware.

If you have a rail on the bottom of the rifle go for the LW-17 with the ARMS 17S or the Standard clamp.

If you don't have a rail on the bottom of your rifle...get one fitted so that you can use the Atlas! It's worth it.

Lever Mount refers to the clamping mechanism on the ARMS mount: Check out the ARMS website for details if you aren't familiar with lever mounts. Kasey can now also offers the American Defense Mount which is also a lever mechanism. Lever mounts give QD capability if this is what you need.

To me the great thing about Atlas is the configuration flexibility it offers. I went with the AI spigot mount and then bought an additional ARMS 17S so I can easily change between the two depending which rifle I want to use the Atlas on.

Add to that the extended leg and claw option (which I much prefer to alternatives) and you've got (IMHO) a great bipod system.

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

If you're buying it new, check with the Tikka dealer to see if it is an option.

If not, then it shouldn't be too difficult to find a smith who can fit one (GAP did it on my M40A1 clone before it shipped).

Is the stock fibre/plastic based?

If you're handy with tools, it isn't a big job...one of the guys here sent me notes on how to do it but I chickened out cos I'm not that talented and didn't want to f*ck up GAP's hard work on the rifle!

@ BasraBoy

Yea, that's a nice rifle, I would feel the same. Of course, I'm new to this so...

As far as the stock, I think it is fibre/plastic.

I know about buy once, cry once...just fighting fate I guess...doing a lot of research on products that are on my price range that will last for me. It's good to be proud of your gear, right? Altas seems to be the best...

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

T3 Tac does not have a pic rail, it has a sling stud.
I would highly recommend either installing or having a smith install an accushot BT15 or BT17 rail to the foreend.
You then can put either of the first two Atlas bipods on the rifle.

I did not do this on my Tikka T3 Tac, and am using a Harris with podclaws. I did do it on a McMillan A5, and will probably get around to doing it on the T3 eventually, I like it better.

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

I'm with you on the "buy once, cry once" and I'm a fan of all Kasey's products that I use (the Atlas and the Mono Pod).

Plus he is a true gentleman and gives some of the best CS I've ever come across (pretty much THE best).

I'm sure it'd be no big deal to get a small rail mounted (I think the one on my GAP is a little under 3").

To me there is no worse feeling than getting the money together for something and then ending up feeling : "I like it but if only I'd...."

Good luck with it!

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

@ madd0c Thanks for the info. I actually put in an inquiry with Accu-shot and surprised Kasey wrote me back immediately. I even had a good conversation with him (email exchange). He basically echoed what you said. What a cool dude. Now I really want an Atlas.

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

@ BasraBoy. I hear you. Kasey is a gentleman. I will talk to a gun smith...can't wait to get all of this gear to be out of the way so I can really concentrate on shooting! Gear helps, but it's the operator right?

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

the atlas is a great bipod however i would recommend waiting to install the rail until after you get tired of the plastic stock and upgrade to a manners then have them put the atlas rail on at the factory. it will happen just give it time.

Re: Which Atlas Bipod configuration for Tikka T3 Tac

@ Diggler, thanks man. You caught me snooping! Yep, I think that's the plan. Anyway, this is all your fault telling me about the Atlas...haha. Can't wait to get the gear man. I'm an addict.

BTW, Diggler is a great seller guys, quick ship and accurate descriptions.
