I'm considering Badger Ordnance scope mounts and rings for my Remington 700 LTR 308 LH & Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x40mm AO. The thing is, what's the difference between all the different mounts? Some say 20 MOA cant, 30 MOA cant, 45 MOA cant, zero cant, etc. I didn't see an explanation for any of these though. Also the rings just seem to cater to 30mm scopes, not 1 inch tubes.

Which rings do you recommend?

Thanks!

Also are the one piece mounts more durable or accurate? Otherwise I might consider the Leupold Mark 4 two piece mounts for better access to the chamber.

In my opinion, it depends on what range you want your zero at and what the longest distance you intend on shooting. I would run your ammo info through a ballistics program and see how much come up you will need at the longest range you want to shoot. Then match your base slope. I have a 45 MOA base on my 6.5, with a 100 yard zero I am only burning 9 MOA that I can't use on the elevation turret on the NF.

For a .308 and a 14 power scope I would recommend the 20MOA rail. Technically the MOA cant is only too high when you can't zero the scope at 100 yards due to lack of internal elevation adjustment. Some scopes have 60 MOA of total adjustment, some have 100 MOA. Just depends on the combo.

30mm rings are the standard, that's why you see them available everywhere. 1" is the old standard years ago and not used much anymore.

Quality rings, tons of good brands out there; Leupold Mark4, Seekins Precision, Badger Ordnance, NightForce, etc. Find a good one that fits your budget.
