Re: Which binos? Price point has changed up

I had a pair of Zeis ($1200 range) binos that I'd used for years. I've also had Swarovski (fantastic binos), high end Bausch and Lomb, and several pairs of Nikons. I went looking for a lighter pair thru Liberty Optics and ended purchasing Vortex Viper HDs almost two years ago.

I couldn't be happier with the Vortex. Side by side with the bigger, heavier Zeiss, the Vortex are as good, if not clearer and brighter. The locking diopter, rugged design, and light weight make them my go-to binos. I really like them and recommend them as a superbe value.

I love zeiss glass, but they sure seemed heavy to me...havnt handled the vortex binos but love their scopes

I agree with BW88, the vortex binos that we ordered are the clearest glass I have ever looked through.

You can trust what Chris@SportOptics says. Those guys are top notch and WILL take care of you.

Re: Which binos? Price point has changed up

Last year I would have said go with the Vipers over the Razor.Matter of fact, I used the Vipers up until these NEW 2012 Razors became available. This was because the Vipers were a good bit lighter and had better ergonomics and were very competitive optically, but the NEW 2012 Razor bino's are a different story. They are very close in weight to the Vipers, which are the lightest out of the binos you mentioned(Razor being a close second) and are honestly the most comfortable/ergonomic bino I have ever used. As far as optical quality goes, they are (by a good margin) the best bino we have done.

Obviously I am a little bias, but I can honestly say that if I didnt have any affiliation with Vortex and I was able to do a comparison of all the bino's listed(even considering price) I have no doubt in my mind that I would walk away with the New Razor's.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Best Regards
Scott

I played with a pair of the Razor 8x42's not long ago and was very impressed indeed. As for the SLC's, really depends on how old they are. Swarovski doesn't really change their model names even though they regularly update the product. I have to agree with Scott on this one. I think the Razors are the best optics in that lineup.

On a side note: The Vortex folks really ought to do the Razor in 8x32. Who buys big clunky 42's any more when 32's usually have a wider field of view and really don't suffer any difficulties in low light.
