Looking for help and advise.

Need a bipod for my Win Mod 70 .308 this will be for target shooting only, from the prone position with very limited bench use.

Do I want legs with notches? What about the swivel feature?

For what I plan on doing, I believe a Harris will be adequate but which model.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Which bipod?

Id steer you towards the Accu-Shot Atlas bipod...Leaps and Bounds better than the Harris. Kasey on here is the owner of Accu-Shot. Great guy and a solid solid performance

So after looking at the Harris website, Matchking you would recommend the
HBRM-S 6-9"

Is that correct.

Thanks again for your help.

i agree with captain, now that i got 1, i want all my rifle to be fitted with atlas. they are great!

Re: Which bipod?

jetmd,
A Harris will be more than adequate, swivel and notched makes life easier. I use the 6-9 for prone and bench.

You don't have to spend big money on a bipod, you do have to learn how to use one correctly and efficiently to use one for accuracy.

Re: Which bipod?

Have a Harris. Don't think owning an Atlas would make me shoot better. But I do think they look cooler.

Re: Which bipod?

I just received my first atlas. Prior to that I've had 3 harris' all different models. The atlas has much more give. It flexes when you load it, but it flexes in a controlled way. I don't feel that I'm bending it or straining it like some cheap bipod. The harris bipods I find much more rigid which I feel is less forgiving if you are not loading the bipod just right. You will have it hop, or slide to the side. The atlas is built like a tank, attaches firmly and I find it easier to load.

Darn good stuff. Thanks!

Also, can you comment on it being more quiet? Pulling out the Harris is relatively noisy, springs, etc. From a tactical standpoint, perhaps the Atlas offers a quieter deployment as well?

OK. That's another point for the "Pros" column.

Re: Which bipod?

Don't for get the customer service side of things. I just sent my atlas in for the washer upgrade. I shipped it out last tuesday on received it back yesterday. Less than a week turn around time including shipping across the country. Beat bipod ever.

Re: Which bipod?

Ok this has probally been covered before but could sombody please explain what the do to "load" their bipod? I use a firm hand on the rear of my butstock to push the stock to my shoulder when shooting off a bag or bipod. If there is another way for the bipod I'm all ears .It my be why my groups off the bag are better. I have a Harris on my 20" 5.56 1/7 colt hbar and I am going to add a rear pod to my PRS . They say to grip the rear pod and do not adress the loading of the bipod. I am more than willing to try other methods as I am on a never ending quest for that one hole 1000 yd 5 shoot group L.O.L. only then will I try the same at a mile
