I'm thinking about converting my Rem. 700 BDL (SA) to use the AI box magazines.

Any suggestions as to which brand to buy and there pro's & con's ?

Thanks for your input.

Re: Which Bottom Metal-Pro's & Con's ?

I got a good deal on a Badger M5 and am running that. Personally I would go with the new Seekins Precision that runs the AI mags. The quality of Glens shit is amazing and I haven't seen his bottom metal yet but I am sure it is great.

Nothing wrong with the Badger, CDI or any brand. Buddy runs the Kwik Klip on his 30-06 without issue.

I would suggest you use a SH vendor though. Triad has the M5 and CDI has his shit, as does Midway.....not sure if Seekins version that runs the AI mags is out yet though.

I have Badger and Surgeon. I prefer the Surgeon
because the release doesn't hang down as far. Can't go wrong with either. Both are built well.

Hope this helps,

+1 for the Surgeon

No release to hang down or snag on the new Seekins AI mag system, an oversized trigger guard, and one of the easiest inlets to mill out. Who else can say that about their AI DBM?
I would rate Seekins a little higher than Surgeon & the others personally.

Does the Seekins use an AI magazine? I thought it only worked with a Seekins made magazine.

BTW I did read the APA uses AI magazines. I'm anxiously waiting for this one to hit the market and get more info.

no having done it yet but just having asked a bunch of questions of CDI, i will say if his product is as good as his customer service (i heard it was) its worth looking into

Here's the Surgeon Link

Thanks for the link, but those pictures kind of blow. I was hoping to see some installed close ups?
Thanks.

Re: Which Bottom Metal-Pro's & Con's ?

+1 on Surgeon. Surgeon has an anterior lip that you can use for forward pressure when shooting over baracaids. The release mechanism is also not as obtrusive as badger. Seekins looks good, time will tell.

Re: Which Bottom Metal-Pro's & Con's ?

Well I reckon when I go see Jered about a lil bastard for the far bastard Ill have to ask him about his DBM as well.

But that has to wait till after the 3rd of next month, got a match to shoot and cant be without my rifle.

Re: Which Bottom Metal-Pro's & Con's ?

I am waiting patiently for APA to roll out their bottom metal, I hope to have my rig over at APA sometime in April to get it installed. I like the overall simplicity of it. Plus I spoke with JBW#3 and he said that the new MORTA mags they are dealing with work well with Jered's new bottom metal.
