Guys shooting 1000+ yards. Which bullets are you using for 300 win mag. I just bought one. Seems h 1000 is pretty popular. Anyone have some load data working for you that you can share. Thanks guys

408w, I'm sure some guys here will be recommending the Berger 215 Hybrid bullet. I've been reading lots of guys using that bullet in their 300WM's. I've got some, & so-far getting only mediocre results. But, I'll keep trying!!!!! Good Luck! Idaho=5R

Berger 215 hybrid with H1000 is printing 0.2-0.5MOA 5 shot groups for me at 100 yards. Have yet to shoot any game with it but getting sub moa groups out to 800 yards (Max for my range)

Ran the 230 Hybrid Targets through the last brl but new one likes the 225 ELDM better. Have multiple sessions @ almost a mile with hit at will results.

215 Hybrids for me , incredible accuracy and smashes critters with authority. Start at 73 grains of H1000 and see what your rifle likes .

210 Sierra, because I got several thousand for cheap.

Game? 200 Accubond because it works great. Targets, 200 SMK, because it's a hunting rifle, and trajectory is very close to the AB.

Not trying to hijack the OP’s question, but what about factory loads? I don’t have time anymore like I used to, so even just getting to range regularly is becoming more and more rate.

I’m thinking one of the Choice Ammo 200’s.

Berger 200.20x - 79.8gr h1000 gives me 2900fps in my 24” AXMC. Single digit SD

What brass are you using? I usually hit 2900 with 200gr pills around 77.0 to 77.5 gr of h1000 in 24" 300 wm's pending the rifle. I would pop primers and split cases at almost 80gr.

if only shooting to 1k , dont need expensive bullets. have awesome results with 208bthp, 74 gr H1000 @3000 fps. 30 in barrel. also ran bergers 215 and 230s but at 1k performance wasnt any difference than hornady 208bthp.

Norma brass. No pressure signs

Factory 200 gr Hornady ELD-X - transonic at 1220 yds, or 210 gr The Hunting Shack Munitions transonic at 1300 yds, or Copper Creek 230 Berger transonic at 1435 yds.

Currently using old stock 208amax@2905fps via 76.0 H1000, Fed 210, and RP brass. Phenominal results. Finalizing the 225eldm using H1000@ 74.2, Fed 215, and Norma brass. 2805fps. Also finalizing the new 208eldm ended up at 76.0 H1000, but a bit slower (60fps). Previous owner of rifle had good luck with the 215 and 230 Bergers. Below is the other day at 997yds. Three shots of the older 208amax.

Rifle is a factory 700 5R gen 2 with a 24" all of this ammo shoots well from it.

Top to bottom

Hornady 200gr ELD-X

ABM 230gr Berger VLD (ABM is now Berger factory ammo)

ABM 215gr Berger VLD I did email abm about the SD's and they said it was uncomon and sent me a free box of ammo that I didn't even ask for I was just enquiring of what to expect which was pretty cool.

Berger ammo 215 grain. Running at 2860 out of my 26 inch bartlien barrel. Sd has been very good. Once I shoot all them up I will try 208 eldm with h1000.

Berger 215 hybrid, 20 thou jump, SAAMI chamber, 73.5 gr H-1000, Nosler Brass, fed 215 primers, 2920fps, 28” barrel. Shoots ragged one hole groups.

Been running the A-MAX 208g with 74.8g of H4831SC. 2950 fps. 27" AI factory barrel (Bartlein) 1-10".

Like a laser. There is velocity left I believe, but I like the brass life. Same charge of H1000 over 75 fps slower, grouped just as well though.

I'm right there with 210vld. Almost the same numbers exacrly, lol. Are you using 215m primer and Norma brass?

any one using the 215 hybrids for hunting?

Lots of guys on the hunting sites using these. I plan on using them this season on elk based on the 100s if not thousands by now big game kills. Keeping the tip open I hear helps, and guys have been either hand picking the pills for hunting or just making sure the tip isn't closed off.

I am using Winchester Magnum primers and hornady brass. I will be switching to Norma brass once I shoot up all my Berger ammo I have.

H-4350
WLRM Primers
Hornady Brass

I know a few guys using h4350 but with 150gr pills but haven't seen many with 180gr pills. How much powder? Did you use/try others and then have best results for your rifle with h4350? Curious. Thanks.

67.3gr

I already had the powder so started there which is why I ended up with 178gr Hornady. I want to switch to a 220gr so will most likely switch to H-1000 then.

With the shortage of h1000 right now, has anyone ran imr8133 with the heavy bullets?

Never tried 8133.. I've used h4831 quiet a bit with the 210-215 pills and it works really well. Seems like it's on the shelf most places here in CO that I've been too.

I didn’t post my seating depth, and no, my load isn’t compressed, no pressure signs on the brass so I’m comfortable with that load.

I recently developed two loads using 200gr SMK and 200gr Hybrid and H1000. Both had a sweet spot at 79.7grs in Hornady brass. They’re 20 FPS slower in Norma brass.

The majority of my 300 wins are 10 twist over the last 20 years. Last two hunting guns I did were a 9.4 twist proof and a 10 twist proof. I went with what was available at the time, and I notice zero difference down range. I also don't shoot heavier then the 212/215s.
