Sold my Cooper safe queen and am now begining my quest for the best complete build semi auto .22lr. I'm currently looking at the Volquartsen and Kidd Supergrade. Are there any others I'm missing and does anyone have experience with them? I really don't want to "build" one from all different parts.
Thanks

Hellbender, I put $2K into the upper for my AR .22 tack driver, but much or that was the MK12 furniture, sights, etc.

A barrel and bolt from Compass Lake Engineering will set you back about $600, plus the stripped upper, handguard, and sights/rings of choice.

Excellent barrels for Atchisson bolts are available from Ballistic Advantage, Spike's Tactical, and Accuracy Speaks.
I'm not sure about how well Model 1 Sales' varmint or National Match barrels shoot.

My CLE has shot some 3/8" 50yd groups, and many under 1/2"
There's a thread here somewhere.

frog...

I built a CLE based AR, too, though not quite as nice as yours, it shoots similar.

I was throwing out the idea for him to think about the concept.

I'm gonna PM you some questions about your build, don't want to hijack his thread.

Any of the Lothar Walther based barrels are excellent, and for practical purposes are probably nearly the equivalent of things like Shilen, Hart, etc.

On a budget, a Green Mtn is supposed to shoot nearly with the more expensive stuff.

Triggers: KID for the very best, JARD for a good complete single stage, PowerCustom hammer/sear for $60-70 if you already have a stock trigger.

Aftermarket receivers are all cool, but it's hard to see how they'll shoot better than stock, for normal purposes.
