Looking for an EO tech which is NV compatible and has either ARMS mounts or has qr mount. Looking at:

EO Tech 553 CR123 batteries
EO Tech 555 AA batteries
EO Tech XPS 3-0

If anything, my M4 rifle has a Surefire 952 XM 03 which already takes the CR123. Looking at the 553 but appreciate any recommendations on anything else.

Appreciate your thoughts in advance.

Re: Which EO tech?

had the 553, sits high, doesnt co-witness with the iron sights, heavy and large. sold it and got an XPS. much better sight in my opinion, and the battery compartment isnt affected by recoil. buy the XPS and buy one of the aftermarket QD levers that are available if you absolutely need to take it off. the XPS co-witnesses the irons, so I dont know why you would need a QD attachment, but to each his own.

Re: Which EO tech?

Go for the lightest one you can, with everything else that goes on the guns these day make it it he XPS3. Try to coordinate batteries to your taclight. If you need it to be quick detach then buy the aftermarket GGg or other so it still sits low enough to co witness your irons.

Re: Which EO tech?

The model that are QD are the EXPS line and are 1/3 lower cowhitness. XPS are not and are true cowhitness.

I had the 555 on my work rife....it was good. But I picked up a XPS3-0 for my new SWAT rig and its a much better package.

Re: Which EO tech?

i first considered the qr mount eotech models before getting my 512 (don't need nv). ended up getting from larue in the combo with their qr mount, nice bundle price and i love the optic.
last i checked they have the 552 and xps w/nv available as packages with the larue qd mount.

Re: Which EO tech?

So the XPS3-0 cowitnesses in line with the irons? I tried an Aimpoint in a La Rue Mount set up to do this, but I noticed the dot and the irons never were exactly aimed at the same point which proved distracting. I ended up getting rid of the Aimpoint and and now looking at the EO Tech.

How does your XPS 3-0 line up?

Re: Which EO tech?

Be careful with the Eotech. There have been many reorts of premature battery leakage doing damage to the EoTechs. See the earlier post on the 512. Almost happened to my 552.

Re: Which EO tech?

i have an EOTech 557, i have it mounted onto 18" Noveske at the moment. i really like it. i haven't been able to get our and shoot further than 275 yards but thats soon gonna change when i move to alaska. anyways the 557 is NV compatable, and is able to get a lower 1/3 co-witness, although it does run on AA batteries i have had it for over a year and never "needed" to change the batteries, i changed them because i don't trust batteries over a year old. and as far as the leaky batteries deal goes, i always checked mine before and after a trip to the range, call me paranoid but its one of the many things i do upon inspecting my firearms

Re: Which EO tech?

I highly recommend the 123 battery powered Eotech even if the military is not going to embrace the 123battery powered Eotech. They said that the battery is to expensive and the AA is more readily available.
If you get the batteries from Surefire or a Surefire dealer they are way cheaper than say walking into wall-mart and getting the 123 battery out of the camera dept.(Because then they have you by the go-nads)...Hahahahaha!
