which extractor size?

Hey all, i'm planning on having a smith open up a 30-06 L/A bolt to take a .300 winmag and having him install a sako/badger style extractor. i still havent decided on which extractor set up i'm going with, i'm leaning towards the badger but i dont know which size to get. do i get the MAGNUM bolt face extractor because its being opened up for a magnum caliber? or do i get the .308 bolt face size? Its late and my head is about to explode, not to mention i still know very little about this type of custom work. any info helps. thanks!

Be careful, the magnum extractor may cause the ejected round to hit the scope and fall back into the loading port. I learned that the hard way. If installed correctly, the 308 size is the way to go. It changes the angle of departure slightly. Better yet, get a magnum bolt.
