I recently acquired a very nice SG 751 SAPR and have been wanting to get a scope fitting for it. It will be shot out to 600-700m on both paper and steel targets. Budget is $2500-$4000 not including the mount.

Here are three that I've found to be potential candidates. It is not exhaustive as I very well may have overlooked many optics that are more appropriate.
TT 315M
s&b 5-20 x 50 pm ii ultra short
k318i

Glass quality, durability, weight and length of the optic are all important considerations.

I've yet to step into the higher tiers of glass so I've been trying to do my research to make a decision right for the intended purpose.

I appreciate any feedback or advice provided. Thanks.

Congrats on the new addition to the family! I put a Nightforce ATACR 1-8x24mm on my LMT DMR and have found it more than sufficient out to 800 yards; at 1X the illumination is bright even in full sun. I personally didn't feel the need to go beyond 8X at that distance. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Whatever you choose I would base it off a usable reticle in the low mag range. On these gas guns I prefer a thicker reticle to be able to use it on 3x at closer distance. Unless you are using a LPV with good illumination. I still like the CQBSS with H27d for gas guns in that 0-800 roll. I also ran a TT315P with gen2xr for a while on a SR25 but went to a different optic with thicker reticle on the gun as I couldn't see it below 7x well enough to be useful. The h102 reticle on a USO b17 is another good example of one that's easy to use on 3x in any lighting condition. The MSR is a great reticle also on the Steiner or 5-20 US. The Minox ZP5 3-15 is ultimately what I ended up with on the gun with MR2 reticle. Can get that for 2k right now on Minox USA site. Save yourself a few grand and use that towards something else.

Vortex just announced this morning that they are releasing new versions of the Razor Gen 2 with the Tremor3 and H59 reticle for $2500 retail. However, they also announced that Razor Gen 2s with existing reticles - including the AMG's EBR-7 reticle which is now offered for the razor - have a new retail price of $2000.

That conceivably means that the used market could adjust down to $1500 for a Razor Gen 2. $1500 for what many consider to be a heavy but tested and true scope. I'd seriously look at that option.

I haven’t used the TT 3-15. Mainly as I prefer other reticles than they offer.

I have used the Schmidt’s and the Kahles.

IMO, the kahles is the best all around ultra short out there currently. It’s quite a bit shorter than most anything out there.

The zcomp 4-20 is likely going to be a huge player in ultra shorts if it’s as good as the initial reviews in the 5-27.

If you’re interested in a kahles, I’m selling a brand new one to fund a zcomp 527.

Here’s a pic to give you an idea how short the kahles is.

How do you compare the Schmidt's with the Kahles?

Schmidt glass is a bit better. Though when talking this tier of optics, they all have good glass.

Schmidt turrets lock, kahles doesn’t. Never had issue with kahles turrets moving though

Kahles has ambidextrous parallax

Schmidt has the illumination tumor on side

If you like Horus reticles, Schmidt offers those. Kahles only offers a few reticles. The skmr3 is awesome though.

If you prefer Horus or locking turrets, go Schmidt.

Something like skmr3 or the length of optic matters, go kahles.
