Which is better REM 700 XCR TLR or Browning ABolt?

Re: Which is better REM 700 XCR TLR or Browning ABolt?

As usual the answer is,,,,, "It depends" Browning has made some great firearms, they are not available through your typical store. I personally believe the old US and German ones are superior to the newer Japanese ones..

The edge the Remington has is the sheer amount of knowledge on it.
For every smith that specializes in Browning, there are probably 750 that know Remington....

A good gunsmith can make either of them shooters. Its a ford vs chevy argument...

If you strip away the fancy wood, and get down to a bare action, the A-bolt has potential. But that action is likely going to double the cost of the rem...

.002 cents worth...

Both are 300wm. </div></div>

The term "better" is subjective. Better for what? The Remington will offer more after market support, so in that respect it may be "better" for the long rang tacticool market. That said they'd be pretty close to even as hunting rifles. The A bolt would probably weigh less so it may even be a better choice for a gun you have to lug in the field. What are your parameters?

I love my Browning but they are great hunting rifles. They leave alot to be desired in the aftermarket side. If you can find a factory configuration that you can be happy with get after it, but if you want to or are the type thats got to mess with stuff and modify get the remington.

I've shot the xbolt a good bit and I have several 700's. For a target/long range gun, i'd go with the 700 due to the fact,as others have said, aftermarket parts. The availability of parts for the 700 to make it a great gun is outstanding.
As hunting guns, I'd take a stock x or a bolt over the 700. i like the duratouch stock feel/shape and i like the action itself. the 300s that i have worked with were all close to MOA guns @ 100.

Figured I'd throw my two cents in since I have an A-Bolt II. I currently have the .270 Browning A-Bolt II set up with a Leupold 3x9x40 scope and it shoots perfectly each and every time. While I've have shot many 700's I have not shot the tactical, so I can not speak as to that, but I would say that you can not go wrong with choosing the A Bolt if you do so.
