Out of the two, the CIP length or non CIP length, which is more common, if either?

Oh and while we're on this topic what in the world does the acronym CIP stand for? :)

CIP: Commission Internationale Permanente pour l'Epreuve des Armes à Feu Portatives. I always thought of it as a EURO SAAMI kind of. I've been looking for an AICS chassis for a 338 Lapua build and decided to go CIP length if I have a choice. The CIP length mag is longer, giving you more flexibility with your COAL. My 338 chamber was cut with the thought of using CIP magazines.

The non-CIP is the more popular option, as it covers far more cartridges than just the .338 Lapua, with longer OAL.

In a nutshell, the CIP is for loading .338 Lapua and similar cartridges to a longer OAL. However, not every action will work with the CIP length... be sure to check your action before purchase.
