I recently purchased a Rock River varmint A4, and need to buy a scope. I already own a couple of NF's and am thinking that is the route i will probably take here, but I am open to other options. This gun will primarily be a coyote gun and will see some moonlight hunting, so an illuminated reticle is a must and a 56mm objective would be nice as well. I also like the parallax adjustment on the side. I have looked at the trijicon accupoint 2.5-10x56, but I would like something with adjustable turrets without caps on, and would prefer a little more power. I know you will say that 10x is plenty for a 223 and I know, but I still like more. How is the illumination on the trijicon at night?, I haver never seen one. Oh and where is the parallax adjustment on these scopes, I don't see one.
When I think about everything I want, I keep going back to the NF. I did wish that it had an easier way to adjust the reticle brightness without taking the cap off and adjusting a screw. The only other option I really know of is the Mark4, but by the time i get the illuminated reticle I can throw in a few hudred more and get the NF. Oh and if the price is more than the NF I will probably just get the NF.
thanks for your opinions in advance

Since posting this I have discovered the IOR scopes. They seem to fit my needs. I have never looked through one though and am wondering how the glass is. I also see no parallax adjustment, does it have one? I don't see how it couldn't after using scopes that have it on the side it is so nice, and really clears things up easily. I do like the easily adjustable illumination though, and the price is nice too.

Re: Which optic for new .223?

the ior glass is great glass. a good amount of people will say the ior glass is better than nightforce. look at their tactical scopes it has the side parallax adjustments and its illuminated. and if you look around you should be able to get it a fair amount cheaper than your nightforce's.

I'll help you out. Get the Nightforce. You know you want to

Re: Which optic for new .223?

For an AR type rifle I like the IOR 1.5-8x & the 2-12x scopes. The glass is better than the NF, but the warrentee is better with NF. The overall scope it self may be a little better with the NF as well, hard to say really. Both have real good knobs that track very well, both are made very good with the NF edgeing out the IOR, the ill. ret. on the IOR is better than the NF, NF has a great choice of retical's but IOR has the MP-8 which is top notch, (the CQB is also a very nice ret.) IOR comes with free ring's and the 2-12x will cost you about $1275 I simply don't like big bulky scope's with huge objective's on an AR, I think the 1.5-8x IOR is perfect for that rifle. It will take you from CQB work out the the max range of the gun, about 500 yards. The 2-12x will give you more power if you feel you need it and still fit's the rifle well. IOR also make's some full size scope's you might like, the 3-18x is awsome. Do yourself a favor and call Scott at Liberty Optic's and talk to him about IOR's & NF's, he'll treat you right. One good thing about this choice..... you can't loose.

Re: Which optic for new .223?

Ordered the IOR 4-14x50 illuminated from liberty optics. Looks like the IOR has everything I need for a little better price and I like the easily adjustable illuminated reticle. Figured I would check the IOR to have a comparasion to the NF. This way I will know what to put on the LWRC Sabr when I get it.

But by then I hope I fall into a pile of money so I could try one of those S&B.
