Hello!
I need help ;-). I made a decision to buy new sporting rifle in 308 Win to use it for building a tactical one.
I intend to use the rifle for 300 – 800 miters paper firing, and sometimes for hunting in different conditions.
A gunsmith said me that he could re inlet the rifle in a new stock. The stock is like AI type that Roedale Precsion makes for Tikka T-3 line with using AI plastic parts. Chassis is designed by the gunsmith and made from one block of aircraft aluminum. I think, this type of chassis may be better than original from AI…
He has made the stock for Tikka T-3 for one person by the moment. I think the stock should be very sturdy. And it looks grate! For the reason I decided to use the stock for building a new rifle.
But I haven’t decided yet which rifle should I use… I’m thinking about two: Sako-85 Varmint Laminated Stainless and Tikka T-3 SuperVarmint Stainless. They are much cheaper Remington Police at our city, and have in my opinion better quality…
The first is nice looking in my opinion, and has 3 locking lugs and fluted barrel. The second is cheaper, has covered top of a receiver to prevent dirt incoming, and has a Picatinni rail on the top of the receiver (but not 20 MOA, just flat).
Late, when a barrel is near out wear, I intend to rebarrel the rifle with Lotar Valter barrel.
Guys what are yours opinions on the above rifle selection question?

Victor (k).

To marku:
For the first – thank you very mach for the replay :)
But the replay born more questions…
1). Why T-3? Could you explain?
2). How accurate is your rifle that based on T-3 with factory ammo and with hand loads?
3). Why do you think that Roedale stock is better than a local stock? Have you photographs of Roedal's stock chassis? That would be very interesting to compare chassis of both stocks…
4). Which type of AI mags uses Roedale at his stock?

To all:
If somebody has some opinion on the start question, I would be glad to read it. With explanation :)

Re: Which rifle?

OK, do a seach function because their is a memeber on here thats got a Tikka T3 tactical with a AI Rodele stock. Ive got the older 595 action which looks like a Remington Model 700 with a Sako extractor installed. All tikkas shoot very well, their are several post that prove this. Now mine will shoot .50 moa at 100yds with handloads. Ive shot sub 1" groups at 200yds with my tikka as well. My cousin bought a sporter version of the T3 in 25-06 and it shot under 1" at 100 yds easy.

Tikkas have adjustable triggers usually down to 2.5#
Hammerforged match grade barrel
They have to shoot a sub 1" @ 100yds (3 shots) before leaving the factory.

If I were you to save a little buy the varmit model and have the barrel cut down to 23-24" and buy a Rodele stock for it.

For more info on the Rodele stock they have a website. You wont be disipointed in Tikka performance.
