Im in the market for a scope base for my new remington 700. I am looking at different bases, however some bases give me the option of 0 MOA 20 MOA 30MOA??? which one should i get? what's the difference?

Thanks in advance

The amount of MOA choices refers to the canting of the base. For most standard calibers, a 20 MOA is a good option to go with. It gives you plenty of MOAs for the scope to dial out to 1K. For larger calibers like 338LM, and 50 BMG, a higher MOA cant may be more preferable. I have 40 MOA cant on my WIndrunner and 38MOA on my AIAWSM 338LM.

It really depends on how far you are going to shoot the rifle. If you get a 20MOA base, with the right scope, it can easily take you to a 1000 yards on a 308 that needs 36-40 MOA of elevation travel from a 100 yard zero. When you use a 20 MOA base and zero the scope to the rifle you will find that the optic uses very little of its elevation travel (the turret will be at the bottom of its evlation or close to it) and has a lot left for distance work. With a 30 MOA base sometimes it is hard to get a 100 yard zero, again depending on the scope you use and how much elevation travel it has. If you are not going to shoot at the long distances than a 0 MOA may be right for you.

thanks for all your input. I will get the 20moa base. the scope im looking at is the Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14x40 scope. will that be a good combo?
