I am debating on whether to throw down the cash for a Shilen select match barrel for my stock Rem .308 SPS tac or buy a manners mcs-t4. Ive got about 500 rds through the stock barrel. And I dont like the HS stock, what should I do?

Re: Which should come first?

stock if those are your two choices. Its likely some of the downfall of your shooting has to do with the fact the stock doesnt fit you right or feel comfortable

If you have not yet had a good glass, then I agree with DMann, get a good glass first so you can shoot.

Between the barrel and stock, stock goes first. Like Deadly said the barrel might be a shooter, the downfall might be due to the factory stock. I have heard many good stories of people got lucky with their sps factory barrels.

Yea, I have a Falcon 5.5x25x50 with Seekins rings and base, AZPrecision bolt knob, bipod w/ claws and cheek rest. Target in Sight, my barrel is a shooter, I got lucky. I will post some pics of my gun soon. Thanks for the comments guys.

I was one of the lucky ones and got an AMAZING stock SPS-V remington barrel.

I have the 700 SPS-V in .308 and the first thing I did was re-stock it with an AICS then top it with a Nightforce.

The first 5 shot group out of the rifle measured .580". It has continued to shoot 1/2 MOA ever since, I will not be buying a new barrel any time soon.

I agree though, optics first, then stock, then barrel. Provided you have a good factory barrel.
