Which stock would you choose for a LR plinking and hunting rifle, the HS Precision stock that comes factory on some Remingtons, or B&C light tactical stock ? I can get either one for about the same price.

Re: Which stock is better

I would go with an HS precision if I had to choose between the two. B&C is comparable, I just like HS better. Take a look at a mcmillan or manners. They are top notch.

Re: Which stock is better

I have both, And I like them both. But I will say this, The B&C's comb is a little higher and took me a bit to get used to it.
And like OutlawTen5 says, get the one you are comfortable with. If you know a place localy that sells them,go and sholder both if you had not done already.

Re: Which stock is better

I have both and prefer the HS stock because of it's large palm swell. I like the style and butt hook of the B&C better but it just does not fit me as well. I special ordered the B&C A3 with a 15 inch LOP, took 4 months to get it and now I am going to sell it because I just cannot grip it right with my xtra large hands.

Re: Which stock is better

I had an hs stock. I liked the feel of It. Never tried the b&c. But just a thought, if you decide to go McMillan or Manners don't forget the aics. The aics has everything already (dbm, adjustable comb and butt) and its the price of the former with all the bells and whistles. not to mention I like the way it feels. Plus, combine the aics with a tab gear sling with hk hooks and you got a really nice combo.

Just food for thought.

Re: Which stock is better

I currently have 2 with HS Precision stocks with adjustable LOP and height of comb. I had a bad experience in the early 1990s with a B&C stock. Of the 1 I've had and 3 others I've worked on in the last years, I haven't been impressed to the good side of the scale. But a friend has one of their A3 (?) and he loves it.

The best advise I can give you is like stated above. Try each one out and see how they feel.

Re: Which stock is better

Well, I have not held either one, but I went with the HS. I figured if Remington put them on a production rifle, they must be pretty user friendly. It will be a step up from the Hogue on my SPS Tactical.

Re: Which stock is better

If you decide on one or the other, Drop me a PM, I have a # of a dealer in Colorado. He sells both for 20-30 bucks cheeper than I have found. He has very cheep shipping, and he will have it to you in 3-4 days. He has every style and every color. I bought mine from him. I was very happy with his service I ordered another one for my savage. He is very helpful and very friendly.
I will do most of my ordering from him. He also has other parts if needed.
