I was hoping someone could help me out here. I'm currently looking to purchase a "Swarovski Spotting Scope STM-80 HD" and I'm uncertain as to whether I should get the angled or straight variant. I will be spotting from both prone and the bench. Anyhow, in addition to the angled or straight variant, I'll also need a sufficient tri pod for my spotting scope. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Re: Which Tri-pod and Spotting Scope variant

Im a fan of straight spotters, many here disagree but its all dependant on the user.

As for the tripd, do your self a favor and get a Manfrotto. Any of the Manfrotto tripods will work, spend the extra hundred and get a 332RC2 head. Solid locking and super smooth operation.

What they said - I have a little bit different head mount than what they are refering to but it works. This tripod does it all.

Re: Which Tri-pod and Spotting Scope variant

Any of thier tripods will work great. Consider how you will be spotting... Standing, prone, bench, etc... This will determine what type and size tripod to use.

I use my spotter standing a ton and prone a bunch as well. Thier 3 part tripod like the 190 series will work fine for both.

slik tripod , very reasonably priced and real solid . and whatever you do get a spotting scope with a MATCHING RANGEING RETICLE if you have moa adjustments on rifle scope, the us optics spotter with moa reticle . if you have .1 mil adjustments use a vortex/leupold or other comperable with mil dot reticle

yup.. what he said.

The Bogen/Manfrotto tripods are solid as they get, great choice for heads.

I use mine for the chrono, camera, video work, spotter....
