Which one and Why?
background - I just recently bought a Remington 700 AAC-SD that I am looking to attend a Law Enforcement Precision rifle class with. As most of the classes here are already filled I figured enough to atleast get my equipment in order so I could atleast practice before I actually went to the class. I honestly am having a difficult time choosing the stock, all 3 look like great options hell even a McMillian but due to the wait time plus the cost of bedding I am more geared towards a rifle chassis system.
Scope - Either Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14 with illuminated recticule or Bushnell Elite Tactical 3x-12 with FFP/Illuminated Recticule.
Scope base - ???? not sure input needed
Rings - ??? input needed
Your thoughts please?

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

Re: the chassis options, they are all different ergonomically ... TRG-styling vs AR-styling vs Thumbhole-styling.

This is a decision where other folks' opinions and preferences don't matter, and you have to figure out what works best for you.

It would be different if you were asking Manners MCS-T vs McMillan HTG where they are very similar but folks can share why they like certain ergonomics, price points, available features, etc of the similarly designed stocks.

Whiskey 3 seems better by far, AI seems to be what everyone gets because its out there. I am going with a W3 I dont want to be like everyone else.

I would roll the AX against the XLR for ergonomics. W3 is more TRG'ish. AICS is on it's own with that thumbhole.

After trying a few AR style chassis I've come to understand they aren't for me. Something doesn't feel right and I can't get comfortable. I've also noticed other shooters (in person & video) with fidgety trigger hands when shooting the AR, AX, and AICS.

FWIW - I've been happy with my W3.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

I have that exact rifle in an aics folder in fde. The rifle will shoot 3/4 moa without a rear bag. I just bought rifle off of my brother and is first aics that I have owned, definitely takes some getting used to, but the ergonomics are not bad, just different. I am hoping will tighten up with the rear bag I ordered! A quick question for yall here, I have read of some people bedding the chassis. Is there any real benefit? Or is it just overkill? I think you would like the aics, but would definitely suggest trying to find someone that has one to get the feel, even if is not same caliber.

I'm struggling with a mcree or an xlr, started thinking the xlr but I believe I'm gonna go with the mcree.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

I like the Mcree, customer service is great also. I also like the Whiskey. The AICS is to small for my big hands and also it is so ugly.

Thought I was the only one. I've taken my XLR-stocked Tikka Scout out a few times now and can't get comfortable with it. Went that route vs W3C cause I already own a TRG. One more chance else it's gotta go.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

I like being able to have sides on the AICS stocks.

You can beat the tar out of it, scratch it, whatever you want. Throw another set of skin on them and you have a brand new stock pretty much.

THe other chasis can not say that.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

I was on the same boat you are right now a couple of months ago. I went with the AICS 2.0. I like it for several reasons. It is very easy to get it set up. It is well built. It folds and fits perfectly in my eberlestock pack without having to drop the extension for long rifles. You can change the skins when they get scratched or simply to fit your environment. There are plenty of accessories for it. I could keep going... I just know that you wont regret getting the 2.0. I can not give my opinion on the other ones since I have not tried them.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

Best to get behind as many as you can to see what fits you. I tried an AI and could not get it to work for me. I recently traded into a XLR on a whim and so far its a great fit for me. Super adjustable, nicely machined, and seems very solid. Good part is there are a bunch of great stocks available.

In the process of beating the tar out of a rifle aren't you likely to scratch up the optic, barrel, or action? What's the point of having a nice stock if the metal looks blue collar? While I respect a persons desire to keep their gear in nice shape, this should be so far down the list when making a purchase decision that it doesn't matter.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

I was going through a similar dilemma a few months ago. Trying to decide between a W3, a Manners, and a RCSII from Roedale Precision for my Tikka. I ultimately went with the RCSII. I believe Roedale has a version for the R700 so you might want to check them out. Delivery time was about 2 months, including export license and shipping from Germany.

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

Put another mark in the AICS 2.0 column and upgrade to viperskins. I have some large mitts on me and just couldn't get comfortable on the thumb hole. Switched to vipers with the xl palm swell and am very happy. Doesn't look like you can go too wrong with any option though...

Re: Whiskey 3 Chassis vs XLR industries vs AICS 2.0

AICS 2.0 with Viperskins or AICS AX.
Nightforce or Badger Ordnance 20 MOA base.
Nightforce or GG&G rings
Leupold Mark 4
Don't forget to replace that X-Mark trigger with a Jewel trigger
