Who better understands "Content of your character"?

This has always been a pet peeve of mine.

Let's reduce our standards so that we gain racial diversity. How about we let in the best and the brightest? I think you can do that and NOT relax the standards of admission

Using race as a metric for college acceptance is fucking retarded...

I don’t care what race you are...having an ethnically diverse classroom doesn’t do me jack shit.... black engineering is the same as white engineering....is the same as Asian engine engineering...you’re culture is not going to bring new insight to what I do

What I do care about is that you can do college level math, understand basic geometry, and can put words together into a basic sentence.

I’ve had students which quite frankly shouldn’t have graduated high school.... much less be accepted into college.

Accepting less qualified students because they are the right skin tone makes my job harder..... and it’s not fair to the people who deserve to be there.... because now I have to dumb down my classes so they can understand it.

About the same as grade inflation...

Just teach what yu teach and let them fail of pass...of course that could cost you a job.

I tried that my first few semesters teaching..... MASSIVE failure rates

Ultimately my job is to teach them....if they aren’t learning, I need to adapt my teaching so they understand, and if I have to adapt or add material, then I do it...... it’s like building a house.... if you don’t have a foundation, then the rest of what you build is just a waste.......

So if a good portion of my students don’t understand basic geometry.... everything I do with them for the rest of the semester is a waste.

I can’t send them back to high school to learn it( if they ever learned it in the first place).... but I can teach it to them now

Youre correct.

A couple of years ago I was cleaning out some old boxes and found some of the papers I wrote in college. How I got B+'s and A-'s on them could have been nothing but grade inflation. Even to me they stunk (stank?).
