I need a reason to buy more ammo...

Just mounted a DIP 25 MOA rail and an S&B 5-25 on my Annie...going out to zero it and have some fun shooting out to 300

Taking the AI as well to get out to 600. Bringing some motivational targets besides the usual steel plates.

Need a break from all of the shit going on...tired of hearing it. Sunday morning with like minded buds is always good therapy.

What will happen will happen. Maybe I can't change it but I can resist it with every fiber I have.

Maintenance , cleaning and dry fire . Run the Ar every other week to once a month . Run the pistol twice a week during the week . I'll probably get an hour and a half of dry fire between the two today . Might be adding a DPMS GII Bull to the stable which will surely get me out more . A buddy is selling it and I know from first hand that it only has thirty rounds thru it . Even with the horrible factory trigger it shoots clover leafs . Have fun today and post some pics .

I have a box of 20 reloads that I hope is this round of reloadings ultimate for my M40.

I had intended to shoot it yesterday, in fact was at the gate of the 300 yard range, but I got offered a work over time and jumped on it like a prelate on an altar boy.

Im thinking the 168 SMKs will do as well as the poor trigger puller can launch them on their journey.

Kind of what Im really hoping to see is how well Ive set up my target board.

Using that capped turret Leupold I hold off the mil reticle. Figuring 1.4 mils as my 300 yard hold Im holding POA with no real reference which makes for kind of a crappy way to ensure uniformity of aim.

So I got a big piece of cardboard, mathmetized what I think is a 1.4 mil hold at 300 yards and drew a POA for the center cross above what I hope will be my POI.

Im kind of as interested to confirm my hold, math prowess and drawing ability as I am to the new load process/recipe.

    Pictures to follow.....

In fact posting here and than not posting porn makes you suspect of some Moms basement loser with really no guns, girlfriends, friends.....just you, a keyboard and a heavily calloused hand that always assumes a small diameter curl.

I'm needing to finish hanging some sheetrock this afternoon (need to stay ahead of the flooring guys). If there's enough light when that gets done plan on some 50 and 100 yard AR standing practice. Nice big 4" and 6" targets, a hundred rounds or so. Have been spending a lot of time behind the bolt guns, looking forward to some rapid fire. My targets will have certain names written on them, although some photos would be very motivating.

I share your frustration with current events. I'll be calling my libtard Dem senator prior to the senate confirmation vote, though it's doubtful it will help. The thumb of UpChuck Schumer is pretty heavy.

Then head home, kiss and hug the Child Bride, clean the AR and fall asleep in the chair.

My buddy has a 900yd range..cut in half when the crops are up, should be down soon tho. Steel plates set up at every 100yds to the edge of the corn row, we built a pavillion to keep us dry. Full service reloading room with amenities in the heated pole barn 50yds away. Every Sunday is gun-day when we get together, coffee and doughnuts, shop talk and commence to steel slapping. Doesn't get any better than that. Whatever it is you boys enjoy yourselves today and stay safe. ??

Friday AM I stole a half hour to take the MRAD out back and take a few pokes at the mile gong. I had swapped out the mag catch and spring to see if I could get the mags to quit dropping free under recoil. I only fired 16 round out of 4 magazines and had 4 impacts. 25% hit rate isn't great but I'm pretty novice so was ok with me. The sight of the impact and the clang of the steel a few seconds later was very gratifying.

I think today I'll shoot an AR. I haven't put any 5.56 down range in a while -- been shooting subguns more the past year. I put the new(ish) magpul suppressor cover on one of my 5,56 cans a month ago and need to see how it performs. The trick is getting away without anyone noticing I'm gone...

Nice field expedient use of a shooting brace!
We literally shoot off of everything we can find. The wife finds muzzle blast soot all over, the swingset, trees, the grill, fire pit, lanscape timbers, the firewood pile, roofs of vehicles, all the window sills in the house, my crutches when my leg was broke, the dining room table. It's a good time around here.

Corn is down, it's a holiday at our house when we can finally get back to shooting 500yds again. Had the boys out shooting their rifles already, I'll go back out again later.View attachment 6949874View attachment 6949875

You’re probably on it, but it’s something many shooters don’t think about, But if that little slide is still being used by a little person, make sure you wipe it down when you’re done with something that will remove the lead residue. Lead is very damaging to developing nervous systems.

Yeah the wife keeps me honest about cleaning off any of the household items we shoot off of. In the case of the slide, it's actually retired from playground duty and is exclusively used as a shooting prop these days.

I'm so jealous of you guys that have land you can shoot on. I desperately want to get out and pew pew but my range is down for construction. Have fun!

It has it's downsides. I've never been able to amass a significant ammo stockpile. When the range is 50 yards from the armory and the sun is shining it's hard to quit while you're ahead.

Yeah, I guess I should look at the bright side of my range being an hour away. If I had 500 yards out the back door, it would be easy to blow through $50 without even thinking about it, especially now that I'm shooting so much 6.5.

    1.4 mil @ 300 is 15.12 inches.

    I'll be shooting this afternoon, 6.5CM @ 1000 and 1330 targets.

I've been trying to get my new reloading room set up. Got the bench and cabinet in there this week, then yesterday I installed an InLine Fabricators Quick-Change Ultramount on the bench. I have QC plates for my Rockchucker, Dillon 550B, and MEC Grabber all installed and operational now. I still have quite a bit of stuff to get set up before I can go back to churning out ammo, but this was a major step accomplished.

    Agreed...only snapped one.

Should have snapped one of the Annie as the S&B looks cherry on it and boy what a difference over the SWFA SS that was on the Annie

    1.4 mil @ 300 is 15.12 inches.

My actual guestimate based on my last shoot at 300 was my hold was between 1.3 and 1.4 mils. Best I could pin it down shooting the unmarked area between two 1 mil marks.

I split the difference on the math ending up with POA 14 inches plus above my desired POI.

In route to the range now to check it out.

I intend shooting everything with the magnetospeed dong in place so likely Ill get some shift but so far Ive found it to be consistent if there is an error.

too the Q honey badger out with my 8yo ... getting him ready for some pig hunting in Oct. Reloaded some subs - 194 lehigh defence max expansion, 2 gr 1680, going ~ 954 .... its 7.5" barrel so want to get it up to ~ 1050. Shooting factory subs loosing 150 fps.

Shot yesterday, got to run my new Tac1, zeroed at 100, then got dope to 1,000. Some of the fellows showed up, good time had by all. Will shoot pistol this afternoon.

I take it that you're north of 80 and east of 15?

As to the thread topic, I wish I were, but today is another day of stash maintenance and rumpus room prep.

I get to populate this big mother:

Supposedly, it'll sustain 6,000 lbs. We shall see.

Just wrapped up. Might as well post before I pull down the hot flag and head home.

Had all kinds of excuses. The sun is in the west and it was too bright, I hurried my shots to take advantage of passing clouds....

    Mirage was killing my vagina....

    P9308249[1].jpg

The Magnetospeed screwed it all up....

    P9308248[1].jpg

My ammo sucks the ES/SD are too high...

    P9308250[1].jpg

But truth be told when I went down range and could see the shots hidden from my spotter, I was pretty happy...

    P9308251[1].jpg

Could have made my aiming point bigger but its matching the POI spot was realistic.

    P9308252[1].jpg

Look like a solid 1.4, not 1.35, should be my hold with this ammo.

    P9308253[1].jpg

Intended to be a steel gun, with the capped turrets on the 3-9X never to be touched, I like it.

Load was 42.4 IMR 4064, FC 1X brass, WLRP, Nos CC 168, length to ogive 2.225

    Guns dont work in rain.....

You have witches from the west on the job?

I'm not a fan of getting soaked, my kit getting soaked, and being an eye glass wearer and getting soaked while trying to pew. Not to mention just how fast the water runs down your head and neck when being follicly challenged. Welp, here we go..............

One of my nameless smartass friends called, and said, "hey jerkoff boy, you even took a pic of the hand lotion you use", and I was like, "wtf", then I realized I was caught again, see the orange bottle in the left side hiding behind the sandbag...
Had to post it b4 he did....??

I talk about this with buddies all the time . If it's raining or above 95 degrees at work it's the end of life as we know it . If you're at the range and the effin world is on fire you wouldn't notice if your life depended on it . Everything is right with the world when your sending it .

U invited if u ever flee this far south.

    Southern hospitality lives.

    I thank you.

There is a range Im wrangling to get myself on up here.

It has twenty steels at pretty guessable ranges out to 1000 plus yards.

My heaven would be unlimited time, 20 rounds, a ranging reticle, and a blank range card.

    This is the range.....

    P4137882.JPG

20 rounds, 20 steels and the ability to ring out each of my rifles on it.

I spend too much time limited to punching paper.
