Good morning,

I'm wanting to build a multi caliber rig where I can do 223, 6/6.5 something and a 7saum on one action. I would like a 3 lug short throw action like a Tempest or M2013 but it doesn't look like either are available in the 223 bolt face. Does anyone know of an action I can do this on?

Also, who makes a rem 700 footprint trigger closest to an AI trigger?

This is only a guess, but you might have to build your own. Then again perhaps not, but I have never heard of one. I'm going to subscribe to this thread, in case there is such an action.

That is an excellent question. Perhaps it has less adjustability than the AI but I really like the the Huber two stage. The Huber seems immune to dust, dirt and crap and it is a reliable and percise two stage trigger.

When I ordered mine I picked a 3.5 pound break weight and it seems to feel pretty close to my AI.

The ultimatum action looks exactly like what I'm looking for. I'll do some research on that and the Huber Trigger.

Bighorn TL3 is a 2 lug design if I'm not mistaken. They do look nice, just not the direction I'm headed right now.

Bighorn TL3 is where it's at. 2 lug but got all the Billy faces u want. And can have em shouldered without sending ur action to ur smith. Quick change barrel system without quick change barrel money.

If wanting a to feed both .223 based & mag based cartridges from one action, take care with respect to feed ramp geometry of the parent action.

Case in point, had a Rem Seven SAUM based action (original 300SAUM) & got PT&G .473" and .378" bolts for it. .473" based cartridge fed fine, both from BDL and AICS DBM. However, found out the hard way that the same action would feed not long OAL .378" cartridges to feed. Being that it was orginally made for a SAUM, this action's feed ramp was 'tubbed out' to accommodate the parent SAUM case. So, on a 2.450" round (.223/6x45), a long bullet would ride low on the ramp and hit the breech face, instead of 'hopping' up into the chamber...

Upon inspecting a factory .378" BF Seven action and comparing it to the .532" BF Seven action, is was easy to see the difference in feed ramp geometry between them.

Not sure if/how that applies to other actions, just something to be aware of. Good luck in your quest...

You could do a Desert Tech SRS, I run 223,300blk,6.5cm,260,308,7SAUM,300wm,338LM all in the same gun, and you wont find an easier switch barrel out there. Three lug, box mag, short throw.

Coldbore,

That's actually exactly what I did. I picked up a lightly used SRS A1 for a song. Currently have 260 & 308 barrels. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I love it in dry fire.

I think it's going to be a really good fit for me.

a huber trigger is awesome, but its not like an AI at all...closest ive felt to my AT trigger is a tubb t7t...they felt pretty close right out the box but theyre fully adjustable so it probably wouldnt be hard to match...the t7ts are pretty big though so you might have some clearance work to do on the stock/chassis
