Sidearms & Scatterguns who makes a govt size frame/ commader size slide

Re: who makes a govt size frame/ commader size slide

just about every body makes a Commander type model. ALL big names and high end companies. You have a huge selection to choose from.

Re: who makes a govt size frame/ commader size slide

All commanders have a government length grip. The springfield and kimbers are 4" guns. Commanders are 4.25"

Smith & Wesson still offers a 4" or 4.25" barrel model as well.

My bad. I forgot to add them to the list. It would almost have been easier to list who didn't make one. lol

Re: who makes a govt size frame/ commader size slide

The only manufacturer making a Govt. frame and Commander-length slide is STI. The STI Ranger II's are actual Govt. frames, not Commander frames.

Note that a Commander frame and a Govt. frame are two different animals. They differ slightly.

Also note that 4" is not a Commander. 4.25" is a Commander.

Nit-picking, I know, but just wanted to clarify.

Valid points. Not sure it matters a whole lot though it depends somewhat on what the OP wants to do.

Also believe LB makes a Commander frame/Gov slide and they have known issues with slingshotting. Usually better off running a Commander frame/slide (VIS and frame rails moved back a little).
