Lots of range time lately got me wanting to try something new. As my supply of 155 Amax (.308 win) and 208 Amax (300WM) dwindle, i need a replacement bullet. That got me researching and wondering. Does anyone make a 30 cal Tangent Ogive with a polymer tip? I would like to try a Tangent Ogive for forgiveness on seating depth, but have always had better luck on game with a polymer tipped bullet. I believe the Amax, TMK, ELD bullets all have Secant Ogive if I'm not mistaken. I would like to stay with a 155 grain bullet for the 308 if possible. I'm flexible on the 300WM.

Before we get started on which bullets perform better on game, I've taken game with BTHPs and tipped bullets. That aside, i was leaning toward the 155 Scenar for the 308 and 215 Berg Hybrid for the 300WM, but just want to check with the masses first to see if i overlooked anything that was forgiving on seating depth like the SMK, but with a polymer tip. Oh, and i would like something with a little more B.C. than a Nosler Ballistic Tip.

What say the Hide?

Berger 168 hybrid is a option for you. I shoot the 168 ELDM and found seating depth to be easy to load for. With the articles recently on PRB about longer jump having some solid potential I may give it a try.

Thanks winniedonkey, i hear the scenar and the hybrid are easy to load for and may have to give them a try. I was hoping for a polymer tipped bullet that was easy to load for, or should i say, not finicky on seating depth.

Hybrids are pretty nice and easy to load with.
The ELD’s are just as easy to deal with.
I’ve jumped both a tenth of an inch or more with excellent results and they do well getting close up to the lands as well.

Thanks Steel head. Are they the ELD M or X? My 308 is a factory Rem so its throated long. A bullet that can handle a .1" or longer jump is what I'll need in a 155 grainer.

M’s.
I’ve jumped 2 of their 6.5 bullets and their 180 7mm bullets that far wit excellent accuracy.
My 260 has an extra long throat.
