Im looking to buy a new scope. How are these scopes ? Why is there no focus knobs?

The SuperSniper 10HD is it alot better then the standard one?

Are the scope's a little better then a supersniper built 3 or 4 years ago?

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

BMG50cal,

The 3-9x42mm SS is a very good scope. Optics are on par with most scopes selling in the $1k range. It has no focus knob because a 9x top end does not require one. No parallax issues noted out to 550 yds. The nearest competition is IOR's 2.5x10x42mm FFP MIL/MIL, and Leupold's 2.5x8x36mm Mk4 SFP Mil/MOA, both also with no parallax adjustment, and those are both several hundred dollars more than the SS.

The 10x HD Mil/Mil I have not shot, but it does have a rear parallax adjustment, Not side focus. The glass by all reports is most excellent. Compare it to a Leupold 10x40MM Fixed MK 4 Mil/MOA, and you are getting a lot of scope for the money.

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

While the HD glass is nice, the real difference is that the turrets are 0.1Mrad rather than MOA and, IMHO, are a higher quality design: clicks and ergos are more satisfying to use, hardware is more rugged (to my eye, never broken the turret on a new or old one)

Parallax adjustment on a 3-9 scope is like a spoiler on a Chevy Malibu. For the price, I'm real happy with my 3-9 and will keep it around to use on SPR type rifles and as a light(er) weight hunting scope should I choose to take one of my larger rifles normally wearing a heavy precision scope out for a jaunt about the mountain. The 10HD is also nice, I'm sure, but you can get a used USO ST-10 for not much more and that's what I chose to spend my money on.

I'm gonna steal that analogy.

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

Speaking of analogies, the same pointed nose and high spoiler that made 1969 Dodge Daytonas and 1970 Plymouth Superbirds unbeatable on the NASCAR circuit, made them almost unsellable on dealers lots. (at the time)

I am fairly new here, but I have to say, ole Ratbert has become one of my favorite fellow posters.

As to: "The 10HD is also nice, I'm sure, but you can get a used USO ST-10 for not much more and that's what I chose to spend my money on." Yeah, I would too. But after the SS10HD has been around half as long as the USO has, its used price will probably be the bargain the used ST-10 is. jmho, ymmv.

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

Maybe ill try this scope out. So the 3-9X super sniper scope is the same as the older super sniper just 3-9x

didnt see the 0.1Mrad part hmm. ive used MOA my whole shooting life. DO you guys have any issues shooting both ways with out mixing it up in you head when switching rifles ?

Would i be fine using this scope out to 1000 yards ?

A valid point, but I remember reading that originally they only made a limited number of the 10HD's. Unless that's changed there probably won't be a very reliable used market for the 10HD. Honestly I'll probably end up dropping the ST10 once the Viper PST's come out. Those puppies could change everything in the "value priced optics" market segment.

no they are different. The new SS are better than the older ones.
The turrets are nice and clicks are crisper.

MRAD is easier to use than MOA, especially with mil dot reticle. They work together.

The 3-9 is NOT the same as the old SS fixed scopes. It bears more in common with the 10HD, aside from the obvious inclusion of a variable-mag ocular in place of parallax control and having non-HD (but still perfectly good) glass.

I decided to use all Mil/Mil optics a year or two ago and haven't looked back. For a while it made value-priced options hard to find but that seems to be rapidly changing. If you've got all your dope hard wired into your brain in MOA then I guess it could be a pain to switch, but you'll have to make that decision yourself. Everything works the same, it's just a different set of numbers to memorize.

1000yds with the 3-9 would certainly be doable if you had to, but I wouldn't want to take it to any F-class events. The lack of parallax is going to make consistent cheek weld vital and 9x with the rather thick reticle is going to make consistent POA tricky. IMHO it is better suited sitting on a "tacticalized" hunting rifle or a SPR rifle where you're trying to hit center mass @ 700 yds on the extreme end.

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

Thank you guys now the 3-9 x the glass is petty good i should be able to use it in low light setting ? I really wanted the 10x HD but im worried about not being able to see thought it in the darker times.

Im pretty smart so i should be able to relearn the drops in mil and if not ill tape a drop card to my stock.

Im use to shooting all nightforce scopes but on the new pay checks i dont see any nightforces coming for a while. So i know im asking alot with out spending much money.

Sweet - I so wish I could wring out my SS3-9 at that range! Nowhere in these parts to get that done

Good shooting Jon. What all have you done to that Light Weight A-Bolt?

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

Thanks. Not much done to the rifle--I gave it a proper bedding job and increased the freefloat clearance of the barrel. It was always a tackdriver but that helped consistency, especially when using a bipod. Other than that it's all factory.

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

I've had the 3-9 for a few months, great scope; 10X HD should be here in a few hours, so says the UPS website.

UPS dumbass better not deliver it to the wrong address again, his stupidity almost cost me a Hensoldt in December.

Report coming shortly.

USPS did cost me a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x. I had my mail on hold, they delivered it anyways, and it got "lost" (though I'd bet that either the mailman has a new scope, or a few bucks made from selling it). Because the shipper didn't insure it, their reply was "sorry."

So their mistake cost me about $600.

Fuckers.

"They" would be the USPS. After having had my mail put on hold.

Fuckers!

Re: Who using a SuperSniper 3-9x scope or a 10xHD SS

It does not matter in regards to insurance, if you did not receive the goods in which you paid for you do not have to pay for those goods. You would have won that case if you disputed it with your credit card company.

It is the shippers responsibility to properly deliver the goods and failure to do so regardless of why or how voids any deal you entered into unless the agreement you entered into excluded the shipper from any responsibility after it left their hands.

Insurance on shipments is to protect the shipper not the end user. Many companies will make you think that it is your responsibility to pay for insurance or some package protection plan when all they are doing is padding their bottom line.
