Who will take McCain's place?

someone with balls and conviction to stand up for the constitution would be nice. Not another life long politician - but someone who has accomplished something for fucks sake

McSally is McCain in a dress. I've talked with Kelli and she seems like the real deal. I'd like to trust her and I hope she isn't just another one of the same.

McSally has been down here touring the border talking about what needs to be done... just like McStain... every 6 years.

Anybody find it ironic that we have term limits for president but not the house/senate??
Not so much when you consider how much power one man had in England when we decided to break away from them.

Unfortunately, no one really saw it coming that some understand there is more power being a Senator than the Prez. i.e. being chair of too many committee's and being able to stop all movement of Congress in general, and making the president cow-tow to you (an individual) to get anything he may want.

Absolutely agree with limits on the pres. just wish they applied to congress as well?

I love Arpaio but he's too damn old. Kelly Ward seems good but I don't know if all the RNC cronies will support her.

As for Term Limits we have them in California and it hasn't keep shitbirds out of office. If anything it makes things worse because when they are in their final term the dumb fuckers will sign ANYTHING that lands on their desk. We were better off when Willie Brown ran everything.

Thats why the Tea Party should get ramped back up.

If you limit office to two terms, you guarantee that about half of your incumbents will be Lame Ducks. Bad enough in the WH, but half a legislative body, maybe both legislative bodies, being unaccountable to the voters is just dumb politics.

The need is for an effective and wieldy way for the electorate to terminate a lose cannon. Considering that some states actually have statutes forbidding impeachment (like NY) should be as much of a warning to the electorate as assaults against the BOR.

Everybody wants to change the method of governing and electing, everybody thinks the system is bad and they have a viable answer. They sound like the Communists; who think they can make it work because they're smarter than the ones who failed. They keep trying to make the same thing stop failing by doing it again in the some minutely better way. That's insanity.

The system we have is not perfect; and the simple fact is that humans have never, maybe will never, evolve a system of governance that even vaguely resembles perfection.

Like they say, maybe money isn't everything, but it's way ahead of whatever is in second place. The same is true of the American Constitution, and American way of governance.

You can 'improve' a thing until is does nothing well, some things mediocre, and far too many things atrociously. That's where the Communists went wrong, and also where those sectors of the country that endeavor to emulate Communism go from wrong to worse. They think that their basic premise is lofty and wise, and all hey really need to do is to tweak and reemphasize the process differently. But the boat doesn't have holes, the entire bottom of the boat was open to the sea to begin with.

We know who that is.

That's also where the extremists want the rest of us to go.

In a Pig's Eye...

The problem isn't the system. Its the people who jump onboard with the purpose of perverting it right from their start. Without a means to terminate those loose cannons, this problem will not improve, will most likely sag into desperation and insane excess. These same people already reject the concept that the electoral system is an acceptable means to enact self-governance. They are already in a state of insurrection.

Courage and commitment are needed both inside and outside government, and it's sorely lacking in both sectors.

This is not going to go away without some form of rectification that is currently outside the means available to the electorate through the electoral system. Martial law? I doubt it; there are more problems than solutions there.

McSally sounds good. She has a record that includes pluses. I voted for her; but then again, I voted for McCain, too. I'm simply not sure about her or the others, I do not have enough experience here in Arizona to form an intelligent choice. Maybe the thing I'm not sure about after all of this is my own judgement. Got to work on that.

The problem, as I see it, is that we keep expecting politicians to conform to our way of thinking. If they were true to our way of thinking, either they wouldn't be politicians, or we would. Th concepts don't compare.

Many of the folks who will discuss politics here in SE are Liberals to begin with; the Conservatives are playing their cards closer to their chests. I think they are like me, disgusted that they helped elect McCain, and now they just don't trust their own judgement so clearly.

That's not a winning strategy.

I will not debate the merits of individual candidates here on The 'Hide; that's not a valid, viable topic.

It's a crapshoot; but before we dismiss it, we need to stop jumping around from camp to camp. We need make the honest effort to stay with a plan long enough to allow it to succeed of fail on its own merits. It may not be a winning plan, no plan is entirely successful, but no plan can succeed when it gets abandoned in midstream.

Stay the course. MAGA. Don't change the system; change out the people who put their entire purpose into perverting it. Thigs are ehating up for teh midterms. It took a humongous effort just to get where we are. We need keep that momentum and add to it.

The only ones who can drain the Swamp are we folks. We need to do as well as we already did, and also up the effort, as well; because the ante just went up, too. Last time, it was for mostly the White House, clouting the Arkansas Succubus into her natural element, the storm drain. This time it's about enabling the actual President, and not the Zombie Residue, to prevail in the Congressional Houses too.

Snooze and lose; no pain, no gain.

Wonder if McCain will try to get his fat daughter installed.

Hate that shit when they replace the dearly departed SOB with a family member.

While there are a lot of good freedom minded people in AZ, unfortunately like many other states, the festering cesspits called the big cities are starting to poison all the surrounding areas. The same dark forces that kept that McCain in will probably try their best to use the big cities corruption to put in another puppet for them.

Who knows maybe there will be enough good people to frustrate their plans... one can hope..

I really like Kelli Ward. In fact, though I am not an AZ resident I contributed to her campaign, both in her bid to unseat McCain and then when it looked like Flake was going to run for re-election. She got the endorsement from Gun Owners Of America - that's good enough for me.

This whole Red For Ed thing down here was directly aimed at unseating our republican governor? As good as AZ is, it is definately happening here. No state is immune ?

The Teachers spokespersons were on local news today talking about how everybody was a victor in the teachers strike, and how this is all going to lead to a Democratic majority in the state legislature. Typical Commie propaganda; no matter what happens, they're winning. Right. They call that The Big Lie strategy.

They are forgetting about the rural vote. It wasn't the city vote that put Trump over the top here in AZ.

Beginning to look like the Dems are getting way overconfident here in AZ...; and other places.

Denial is one of the steps for coping with loss, isn't it?

Now, all we gotta do is keep on keepin on, and keep on holding off on the overconfidence bit. The work is far from done.

The comments tell the news better than the story.

The comments tell the news better than the story.

Funny you should mention that........What little bit that I read of the news (MSM or otherwise), I find myself skimming the articles and heading straight for the comments section. I'm certainly not any less intelligent for it. Let's see.......an ignorant, biased reporter's point of view, vs a bunch of pedestrian doorknobs......The reporters are losing lately.

He's done more for YOUR country then you'll ever do. You might not like his politics, but your lack of respect for people with other beliefs then you, says more about you. Pathetic, really.

What’s pathetic is the don’t ask - don’t tell policy you and your countrymen have regarding the politicians that are actively destroying your country.

Our Constitutional Republic values different beliefs but it does not require that we value those beliefs or actions that are criminal or intended to destroy our Republic.

Read about McCains career prior to his capture and his role in the savings and loan scandal of the 80s.

It's plain to see he is all about himself and has only survived his position by having others carry his water when he fucks up.

Looks like he finally got himself in a pickle he can not weasel out of.

Stick to your EU lane and enjoy your Islamifcation.

Yesterday "Songbird" trended almost all day after that formewr general said it on fox business. That would have never made it to air before. There is a big crooked bubble about to pop.

You really need to read about his military career.

It's likely he should have had the silhouettes of a few Skyhawks and a US carrier painted on his last aircraft.

Read about his fellow Annapolis grad James Webb that also followed a political career.

Webb is a man with opposing beliefs that though I disagree with them I can respect as he believes what he believes is good for the Country and as a human being he demands your respect.

McCain has only served in the military and congress his entire life yet he has vast properties in I believe three states and a net value in double digit millions.......

How does that happen when you "serve" the people?

Sure he fucked over women he made vows to to marry into cash but again that is just another example of how he is all about John McCain. Trump will screw women over to upgrade his piece of ass while McCain does it to pad his bank account.

And Perhaps he took some "servings" for himself while "serving".

I thought the book "Nightengales Song" was just a poignant name for a novel about men touched by Vietnam but I'm thinking now the author had info that he couldn't bring to air at the time.......

Although worrisome; I would hope that the voters see that a sympathy vote is not a real vote

The Gov could appoint her.

Incumbency would than be bestowed and with incumbency you gain huge advantage during the general.

and she will probably earn some ridiculous lifetime perks for having served so the McCain snouts will remain in the public trough,

Cindy McCain is already loaded otherwise "Honorable" John wouldnt have ditched his other wife to improve his bank account.

It may not be the way it is 'legally worded', but the concept of an elected position being 'inherited' (or the view of such, allegedly) is tantamount to the concept of royalty. Passing along positions due to familial connections is nepotism writ large.

No?

oui, oui, mon ami ! ;)

Too bad......not only are the voters in AZ getting screwed, but everyone else in the country is too.
