Putting high quality optics on a precision AR platform seems to make sense.... high end optics are one of the main tools to get the job done.

this shit stirrer changed my "2.5" group to .25", this is how a post of mine goes south, simply because there are some (CENSORED) who hate me for no fugging reason at all, i wish them cold meals in an extremely HOT place when they pass away.

I wouldn't hesitate to put one any any rifle of any type. I have an NXS 8-32x56 on my TRG 22 and love it. If I didn't have axpensive ACOG's on my AR's I have them there as well.

I was playing along with my first post.

Then I stopped and questioned what the point of the thread was, other than that you drew a crowd at the range you shoot at (which one by the way?) with a NF. Then I thought, "who would ask if anyone here is blown away by a NF on an AR", because like I said there's folks here that run $5000 rimfires.

I don't hate you at all PP, I am just perplexed by the circuitous rambling and am still intrigued by the lack of evidence of the 499 LWRC. Kinda like someone saying they have a US birth certificate, and that person keeps getting endless crap for not having one-doesn't everyone think the easiest response would be just to show it and end the debate?

NF on an AR is not at all uncommon to folks that understand the benefit of good optics, so again, what is the point of this thread?

silencers, suppressors, mufflers, or what ever name you want to tag them with are a forking farce, i was giving thought to getting one until i heard the report (sound) of several of them at the range, in my OPINION they are worthless as their sound suppressing is still very loud, if i were to get one, i would want one that suppresses the sound to the level of a Red Ryder BB gun.

anyone make that kind of "silencer" ?

OP...I'm +1 on this...same scope 2.5-10x24 with NP-R2 (would have preferred the R1 but not available) in a LaRue 104-30 mount.

Rifle will be used on paper mainly out to 600yds

The NXS Compacts are, IMHO, ideal for this platform - great quality, compact, good mag, good choice of reticles etc.

I looked at the USO but only held back because they're not easily available/supported in thUK right now.

My question to all your crowd at the range would be "If you had the cash, why wouldn't you put an NF on an AR?"

...and please don't say because they're made in China!

Pete has said he much of what he did was still "Classified" and then told me he was a Jet Mechanic. I have no qualms or bad feelings towards Pete. Just sharing info

With the way Ar's can be made to shoot now there is no reason to not use one as a long range rig if that suits your need. And frankly for a long range rig a 4x scope with a small objective is a little limiting. If you want to shoot 800-1000 yards you need a 10x IMHO. Nightforce has a good rep for quality and rugged use........why not use it on your long range rig...bolt, semi auto whatever. Maybe the guys at your range think Ar's are only 300 yard weapons and how the big NF would be less than ideal for building searches? AR's have come a long way.

I have 2 ARs one with an Aimpoint CompM4 with a 3x magnifier and the other with an NF 3.5-15x50 with an NPR1 reticle and both are 16" barrels. I like using the SPR for practicing precision mechanics without wasting prescious 308 ammo. Also it sounds quieter suppressed, hehehe.

I wouldn.t hesitate to put one of the NF varibles with a 10X to 15X power on the upper end of the variable range. I have an older Leupy Vari-X III 6.5-20x40 EFR on my Colt HBAR 6600 and it has served me very well.
