Whoops!!

Probably some of the bullshit gear he was wearing that he let hit the trigger. When your job description includes pointing a firearm at people that you don't intend to shoot, a little extra attention to safety is probably warranted.

BTW, if electricity only follows the path of least-resistance, France ought to get hit by lightning a lot!

Cheers,

I like how he blamed the gun for malfunctioning. Yeah, it's the guns fault.

He did? I don't see any mention of that in the linked article. Is that from somewhere else? This article just says he had the safety off and accidentally discharged it while moving position. No mention of a malfunction.

I know I read that yesterday. But after I put my google-fu to work, all reports are now saying the discharge was because he "tripped" while moving or discharged while shifting positions. It's possible that the article I saw screwed up because several stories are saying the safety was off. It's possible I either mis-read the article or the initial reporting was off and corrected in the later reports.

Thanks. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if he did say it, I just hadn't seen it.

Why the heck would you go live on the safety while pointing a gun at a crowd with no positively identified threat?? It offers NO speed advantage, because you can't aim fast enough to beat the safety coming off (assuming you know how to operate one) as you bring the weapon to the target.
