I'm shopping high end optics for a DTA 300 win mag and can't decide between Premier and S&B. Most shots will be taken at targets ranging 500-1200 yards. Although I treat equipment softly, I want a scope that can take a lot of abuse. Which has the better glass and function? Thanks

Re: Who's got the better product?

I have only owned and used one of them. I would suggest you purchase the one that has the features/options you prefer. Reticle, turrets/knobs/, illumination ect.

There are several discussions comparing these two in the optics section, including 1 that compares and contrast the options.

Good Luck and enjoy your decision.

Re: Who's got the better product?

Thanks for the opinions, I was considering the PH for the locking turrets (nice feature for DTA barrel change), but someone mentioned on another thread that S&B will have this feature soon, and dates?

"Premier without question, talk to CStactical, they'll take care of you"

You will never notice the difference between glass quality. Especially when your in this price range. Pick because of the features it has. Reticle, knobs, over all look etc.

I believe they are both good scopes, but do not let people choose for you because of what they own.

Re: Who's got the better product?

Premiers don't have locking turrets. THey do have the ability to adjust without tools, which is a huge benifit on a switch barrel.

I have beat the crap out of my PH 5-25 and it keeps surprising me how good it is.

Between the two, I think it is a toss up. Both are great. Luckily, the price made my choise for me when the PHs were way less expencive (new to the market). But, I think they are priced with S&B now because they are as good.

Re: Who's got the better product?

+1 for choosing your options that you like!

At that price range you are comparing the extras of scopes: illumination, reticles, turrets, etc. They are all different, but find the one that you will be happiest with.

Both great choices by the way.

Re: Who's got the better product?

I really like my Premier, but bought it back when the price difference between it and an S&B was more of a factor. A couple of things I think Premier does better are the illumination knob not being in the way of mounting and the tool-less zero. But those things don't matter that much.
