Rifle Scopes Why does Vortex have three EBR-1 reticles?

If this has been covered already then I apologize, I have have missed it.

If not, I'm curious if Vortex can explain why they changed the subtensions on the second focal plane versions of their 4-16x and 6-24x PST scopes? The first focal plane reticles seem more useful as they at least maintain the 0.5 mil subtensions all the way to each edge of the crosshair. It is confusing to me as they are both called the EBR-1 reticle.

And of course the 2.5-10x44mm PST has a third version of the EBR-1 reticle
