Rifle Scopes Why nothing on the IOR....

Re: Why nothing on the IOR....

I have an IOR 4-14x50 with 30mm tube, SFP, Ill mp8 dot reticle and 25MOA per turn elevation turret.

I love it and I have seen a review or two of some of the IOR scopes on here as well as on 'central. Check out the most recent review by member named ILYA.

Fair enough, but it is only 5oz more than the 3x18x50. Also there is another one 4x14 with 40mm tube it is a couple oz lighter and has 125moa adjustment. I know some people look at weight, and for an hunting rig or a rig I would be packing around a lot I can see that, but if you are going to the range or setting up on a building top and going to be there for a bit I don't see the weight as an issue. I am just saying

Re: Why nothing on the IOR....

80 MOA is lame for a 40mm tube...there's basically no benefit and scope ring selection goes way down with a tube that size.

IOR doesn't get the love that some other brands get on this site. Many here have them and love them, but IOR had some previous QC and CS concerns in a couple of instances. There were some floating around with particles in (on) the glass and some failed to hold up under day-to-day field abuse. There were a couple of reports that customer service was less than stellar...which is the point of no return for many shooters. I have heard, however, that IOR has recently made steps in the right direction in both the QC and CS departments.

This isn't enough for many, however, as this demographic ('Hide members and the like) holds customer service and quality control to the utmost standards. Word of a QC or CS fail gets out quickly, and with these guys (and myself) it's a "one strike and you're out...FOREVER"-type deal. Completely understandable with products in this price range, and considering the use that many members here put them to (read: life or death, literally). This is why companies like USO, S&B, NightForce, and Premier get so much support here. Their QC is unmatched, and customer service is legendary.

That said, IOR seems to make a fine product, and most report that the glass is very clear and bright.

Re: Why nothing on the IOR....

I recently just purchase a 3.5-18x50 35mm SF MIL/MIL Tactical Scope FFP Illuminated MP-8 Dot Mod. It has 22 mils of elevation or 80 moa. Which is fine for me. It will reach everything I can shoot. The glass is clean but the scope is bulky. It has the new digital lit reticule. I haven't mounted it yet (waiting on rifle to get back).

If all goes well with the scope. It is a great buy for all the options. I run NF and 3 S&Bs. A thousand or so dollars less. I can live with it being a little bulky. I do like the reticule. I chose the model above because on the rings on the other scopes mount funny (not enough room around the housing to move the scope when mounting).
It isn't a S&B but you are not paying 3100 for a scope either. NF with all those options would be around 2400.
Scott at Liberty Optics would be a person to talk to about these. He has also has a thread here about them.

Heres is another good write up comparing scopes with the IOR in the write up.
