Every vendoe is out of stock. Is demand really that great or does the Covid have manufacturing facilities either shut down or running at reduced capacity. Just wondering.

My Wife and I have been involved with a local/neighborhood gun club that has nurtured and supported concealed carry folks here for about 5 years. We all share guns and training and help each other along.

The group went from 12 permanent members to *60* in the last few weeks. Millions of new folks are buying guns and seeking to protect themselves. Folks are scared. They have bought up everything available and millions more have nothing yet and are waiting for shit to become available. 47 years a shooter and I have never seen this before. It is ominous.

VooDoo

Get on gunbroker and just look at the prices anything home/self protection related is bringing. It's absolutely insane and I'm afraid only the start of how bad it's going to get.

Yep lots of folks gearing up. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

what sellers are asking for and getting for reloading supplies on gunbroker is eye popping. Never seen 1000 small rifle primers consistently go for over $100 per thousand before in my life.

Just today, I was at the range and I was talking to a guy (another member here) about the crazy prices we’ve seen on things in the past few months. He mentioned going to a LGS recently to pick up a shotgun he had purchased. While there, he said there was a line and people had to wait to be called in. They were literally scooping up arm loads of stuff to take to the counter. If it was mags, they would buy all on the shelf. Same with oth items.

Point being, while you have a whole bunch of newbies buying stuff, you also have all the opportunists buying everything they can so that they can sell it on eBay or GB for profit. This is all very reminiscent of 2008, for those that recall. Exact same issues.

I decided to brave a few gun shops this past weekend. While stock is lower, things are still attainable. Stores local to me had new Colts ranging from ~$900-$1500. A few DD rifles were on the shelf. No BCM, LMT, or KAC anywhere. All the shitty M&P15, delton, Diamondbacks, etc we’re gone. Cheap AK variants were gone. I saw a few SCAR 17 & 20’s. Used colt and bushmasters in the $800+ range, police trade in 870’s for about $399 and up, Spikes, Aero, and other no-name lowers in the $120 dollar range. Mags everywhere on the shelves, $13 p-mags, lancers at normal prices, D-60’s on the shelf, and all the new 20 & 30 round colt mags ya wanted for $19.99. Pistol selection was good. Glock, HK, CZ, Sig, Beretta, Walther, M&P’s, Colt/Springfield 1911’s, and revolvers available at close to normal pricing. CZ scorpions and a few other PCCs were available. Quality LPVO’s & red dots were slim. LPK’s and complete BCG’s were sparse but there. All of these were available between 3 stores in the Athens, Ga. area. They were busy, but no wait times to get in.

Ammo and reloading components were another story. You pretty much had to buy a gun chambered in 9mm, 5.56, or 308 to be able to buy ammo and then you were limited to 2 boxes.

On line things can still be found but in the stores, almost all rifle primers were gone. XBR8208, Varget, 4350, H322, Benchmark, or any other temp stable extruded powder was sold out. Tac, CFE223, and BLC-2 was in stock. 155, 168, 175 class OTM .308 bullets were sold out. Plenty of 40-55 gr varmint .224 but nothing 62-77gr available. No 5.56 or 308 brass.

All the guns, mags, and support parts in the world are useless without ammo. People shoulda listened to ArmyJerry.😂

things can still be had. some places actually still have stock. but across the board everythings starting to get really low. if youre looking for guns, parts, optics, ammo. whatever. Speaking from a place of experience because Ive been striking out left and right trying to get alot of the things ive been looking for. in a variety of places that normally stock when others are out. and ammo prices are short enough prices are reflecting the shortage.

As has been said before, it’s a combination of people buying everything they can get their hands on and scalpers. Saw a guy the other day attempting to sell a crye jpc plate carrier with some shitty AR500 plates for 1k. Just ridiculous. Then all the “newbies”, for lack of a better word, buying up multiple guns without an ounce of training...it’s disgusting lol.

My guess is that they use aluminum from China and they can't get that like they used to.
And yet Alcoa shuttered the aluminum smelter here in Washington this year.

12 ga defense shotguns are unobtainium locally. AR’s sold as soon as they hit the shelf up until a few weeks ago, now they just sit. Pistols move fast. Local range has lots of new members, despite being on the outskirts of a very liberal town.

You know it’s serious when even pistols chambered in 357 Sig are sold out.
