Fieldcraft Wilderness Cabin DIY?

Anybody build there own log cabin in the wilderness(or private property)? I would think this would be a good idea and skill set.
I was told some wilderness areas you can build a trapper cabin as long as it only has 3 sides. Maybe somebody has more info on the subject.
 
I did. When I first moved to Alaska I'm '72 working on the railroad I was sent to Healy. There was no place to live so I squated on RR land buildings cabin.

It was 12x12 feet. Lived in for two years with wife and two young children.

Sold the cabin for $500 ( didn't own the land) when I went to anchorage to work for APD
 
I have not, however, I can think of no greater inspiration than Richard Proenneke. If you have heard of him then this is old news, If you have not...Google "Alone in the wilderness"
