I have an old Remington 700 with a newer .308 SPS 1-10 twist barrel screwed on. I am having problems getting 155's to shoot below 2" groups with them. I have shot from 43-46 grains of varget and 2.8 all the way to 2.85 and no luck. Anybody get 155's to work out of a 20" 1-10 barrel or should I just give up and shoot heavier bullets? Im thinking of just sticking with the 178 AMAX as I like those.

I also noticed that my action sits deep enough from the bottom into my HS Precision stock that after a few rounds the hing plate pops open. Thats not helping my groups with that pressure placed on the action.

I have a box and a half of Sierra 155 Palma im willing to trade if this is helpless.

Anyone

Re: Will 155's work?

My 16.5" 1-10 twist 308 shoots exceptionally well with 155's but I've never tried the Sierra. I've had great performance with 155 Amax, 155 VLD's and the 155.5 Fullbore. I've been using IMR 8208 XBR, but Varget SHOULD be a safe bet as well.

Are the Sierra Palma's the only 155's you've tried? It's possible your rifle just doesn't like them.

155gr SMKs shot great out of my Savage 20" barrel
This group was very repeatable... 43.6gr Varget, 155 SMKs, CCI200s, 2.780", Fed GMM brass, 2700fps

but what are your barrel twists? JDGray, isnt Savage 1-12? My fp use to love 155's too. I have used the 155 smk and feel like those shot better then the 155 palma. Anyone every tried both? I have not tried 155 AMAX, althoought, i do want to.

Anyone want to trade unopened box of 155 palma's? Ill pay shipping, dont worry
