I have a 1/9 twist. My wifes uncle offered up some 225gr loads to me for nothing, so i though I should take advantage of that? He shoots a 1/10 twist, and it shoots well with those.

I looked it up and you have a 1/10 twist. Im thinking 1/9 should handle the 225's?

Only new TRG42's have 1:10" twist. Older ones have 1:12" twist.

anyone offers you 338lm loaded ammo no matter what it is I would take it if only to pull the bullets and use the brass.

Sako update their specifications from time to time. Last time I had a look at the twist rates, in the specifications, Sako offered both 1:10" and 1:12" twist rates for the 338LM TRG.

Anybody ever shoot the 225gr bullets? Its not my choice of bullet, but just wanted to know? I gave him some 250's now, so we are both going to shoot them. Thanks!

As I understand it, faster twist rates allowes the use of heavier bullets. I think you would have more trouble trying to fire a heavy bullet in a slow twist barrel then the opposite.
