I realize the 300wm mags are typically used for 30-06 but would I be asking for trouble using 338LM mags/dbm setup to feed a 30-06?

If you spent enough time bending and playing with the feed lips, you could probably get it to work.
Even if you got the feed lips bent the rounds would probably pop outa the mag to soon. Feed lips on 338 are shorter than the WM
After building the lips up with proper welding technique and metal (grinding of course), and shaping them correctly, by bending back and forth, or with some kind of dolly for shaping.
It wasn't meant to be anyways, I missed out. I did get some research done on DBMs today though, now I'm on the lookout on the PX
